Could be the long awaited Semin trade...

Personally though, I think Semin is as much a part of this team as Ovie and Backstrom. I don't think GMGM pisses his Captain off by trading his partner in crime...but hey, maybe I'm wrong.

I like the re-signing of Belanger, putting him on the 3rd line will be perfect, he doesnt need to score 25 goals, he can chip in his 15 and win a bunch of faceoffs. He'll also help out our PK too.
As far as Fleischmann, I really wonder if he's the forward we'd be moving. He's BB's boy. I can't see him being the one to go, unless we have something really good coming back.

Personally I'm hoping for a Patrick Sharp trade over here....that way we'd get have both our second and third line centers set before training camp and of course getting rid of Flash thus allowing our younger guys to break into the NHL playing wing while having defensively responsible veterans up the middle with all our lines.

I mean imagine this line-up....

Ovie-Backs-Knuble
Semin-Sharp-Laich
Chimera-Belanger-Fehr
King/Bradley-Gordon-Gordon

Anyone going to complain about that?

What's interesting is that he has been told not to announce where he's going
I wonder which GM would want try such an "interesting" stunt. It pretty much confirms the deal, actually. Why does he care so much? He hates to show his hand but does it really help him get better deals?

Yeah, the Hawks have no reason to trade him. Everything they've done this summer has been with an eye to not having to trade him, and they've managed to get themselves positioned to keep him.

Why would you move Semin to left wing and Laich to right wing (which he's never played) while leaving them on the same line?

I'm nitpicking because the idea that Sharp is available, never mind that the Capitals may be trading (Fleischmann?) for him, is total nonsense.

I also think people are going to be underwhelmed at A. Gordon on the NHL level...I'd expect a less effective Matt Bradley.

I know Sk8's a fan though, so I'm risking her wrath by posting that.

Btw I know its assumed the player to be traded is Flash, but I think there's a real possibility that its Semin.

Belanger's agent said he hasn't signed with the Caps.

He said he "can't confirm anything at this time." Big difference.

From Ken Beckett on twitter

Eric Belanger's agent tells me that his client has not signed with the #Caps or anyone else for that matter at this time. #NHL

If Belanger had signed with anyone, the contract would have been registered with the NHL and been announced.

Just because he hasn't signed with anyone doesn't preclude him from having an agreement with someone.

I'm aware of that. But the way his agent allegedly worded it makes it seem like there isn't an agreement in place.

In the tweet you posted, there was no wording by the agent of any kind. It was Beckett's wording. We have no idea how the agent actually framed his statement.

thats right. he has not signed. he has a contract on the table. a contract presummably agreed to by both parties that will not be sent to the league office til the caps are ready.

as to the trading....i still wonder if agordon and patrick mcneill aren't two players that might well be traded. they very likely can play and contribute for other nhl teams and at a very salary cap friendly price. fleischmann and either of those two is a nice package.

i'd take regehr in a heart beat. are you kidding?

Yeah, not seeing how the two reports conflict at all. One says he has a deal waiting. The other says he hasn't signed.

The agent thinks he's being clever/abiding by the gentleman's agreement with the team. The reporter thinks he's scooping another reporter.

Supposedly this draft is the worst in quite some time. I'd have no problem with GMGM dealing a late first for an impact player.

I wouldn't mind giving up a first. Flash + bust + a late 1st.

I admit I've had difficulty with capgeek in the past but it looks to me like Chicago can waive Huet and will be fine in terms of cap space. They don't need to trade Sharp. Boston on the other hand...
