Semi-Annual Prospect Poll: #10 NYR Prospect

D Conor Allen easily won round 9. High-risk, high-reward centerman Michael St. Croix is replacing him in the poll.

Please write who you want added to the poll, and give a reason for it. This makes the discussion here more lively.

WHO IS A PROSPECT: http://www.hockeysfuture.com/whatmakesaprospect

HOW TO RANK PROSPECTS: Based on their value in a hypothetical trade or waiver draft. This takes into consideration a prospect's ceiling, how close he's to making it, his health, work ethic, the whole deal. Imagine there was a prospect waiver draft and you could keep only one prospect. That guy is our #1 prospect. Then imagine we had one more waiver protection. That guy is our #2 prospect.

TOP PROSPECTS

1. LW Chris Kreider
2. C J.T. Miller
3. D Dylan McIlrath
4. G Cameron Talbot
5. D Brady Skjei

SECOND TIER

6. C Oscar Lindberg
7. RW Danny Kristo
8. RW Jesper Fast
9. D Conor Allen

Have to go with The Butcher this round. Playing and contributing well on the top-9 in the second-best league in the world is no joke. He was second in scoring for Team Russia in the WJC, behind Grigorenko, a first rounder who's a year older and is regarded as a top prospect.

Add Tambellini, who just recently went early in the third round. Didn't do great in college, but lit up juniors with 5 points in his first 2 games.

I think the Rangers prospect pool has a good amount of potential quality 2nd-4th liners and 2nd/3rd pairing Dmen but they are severely lacking in top line/pairing/goalie prospects.

Once Kreider graduates in a few more games and Talbot does as well after this season due to age this organization is going to have nothing in the sense of quality goalie prospects as well as zero potential top line players.

That is a major problem for the future of this organization.

Kristo, Fast, Butch and Duclair all have an outside chance of being first liners. Yeah, we don't have prospects who have a high likelihood of being first liners, but you need a top-2 draft pick to get a prospect like that. To have even one of these (Kreider) is an achievement without any top-5 picks.

Buch just slightly over Duclair for me. Impressive showing at the WJC.

Duke.
I was a big MSC fan, had high hopes for him, he hasn't delivered yet. Based on what I have read and the highlights I watched of duke, he has the more translatable skillset.

Edit: Oops, add Tambellini.

How anyone could take Buchnevich over Duclair is beyond me.

I just came here to post the opposite. The Butcher is significantly bigger and is playing in a far better league.

The juniors are worse than the ECHL. Look at MSC, Nicholls, Noreau, Wilson: more points per game in juniors than the ECHL. This is consistent regardless of the type of player we are talking about.

Duclair could probably play in the ECHL right now, but maybe not because he may not be physically mature enough. He most certainly wouldn't be able to perform in the AHL right now.

Butcher is playing (well) in a league superior to the AHL. He seems like a superior prospect right now.

Awards:
Buchnevich.

Add Skapski. He's going to be the next overlooked goalie in our system.
