Potential NJD Starting Rosters?

Bored. Made this on capgeek. Buzzing just at the thought of it, though, I'm aware of some out of position players and the fact that we'd have to bring up our young prospects way early.

What do you regulars on here would think. There's a lot of possibilities; curious what you guys have to offer as well. Go to capgeek n give it your best?

Assuming Lou could get White off the books, trade Salvador for something useful, and worst case scenario Kovy's hit is 8 mil:

You'll find some capgeek proposals interspersed in the off-season and Kovy threads, but I'm pretty sure consensus is going to say this is way too early until the dust settles from the Kovy fallout. There are just too many possibilities of players to be moved *should* our optimistic re-signing of Kovalchuk proceed.

That said, you don't have enough cap space in your proposal, it's only 20 man and the D needs shuffling.

Hopefully we'll have a better idea of what we're looking at in the next couple of weeks.

Yeh wasn't really focused on the D so much. Was just buzzing about how the 3rd line would be better than the leafs' first (slight exagerration).

I kind of assumed we weren't getting rid of Rolston in my fantasy, but basement cat's lineup is solid (though I really like Salmela).

I made that when his cap hit was still 6. Even if it is 6.5 we should still be good.

Kovalchuk doesn't fit at 7M let alone 8....Your roster is missing 3 players.

I'm gonna be brutally honest. You have 181k in cap space with only a game roster, that 4th line is terrible because it's not a 4th line and would kill any development of all 3 of those players, not to mention they'd get their butts handed to them in division games where most teams employ a real 4th line that hits the crap out of anything that moves. That defense is also awful. It's got 1 player in it from last year, a top pair that never played together and don't necessarily compliment each other, an at best 6th/7th D-man on the 2nd pair and 2 rookies on the 3rd. That lineup better not get hurt and it better be ready to win a lot of 6-5 games.

It's way too early to shake these things out. I remember last year everybody was trying to pencil in where Shanahan would fit as late as the last few days of training camp. Let's all remember how that went. We shouldn't even be thinking of proposing lineups until the 23 man roster is finalized and we get ready to go into opening night.

I figure Kovalchuk at 7M means you need to clear roughly 9M.

I don't think we'll be able to move Rolston this season. That's just my gut feeling. I think Zubrus and Salvador will be moved, and this will be the resulting lineup:

Parise-Zajac-Langenbrunner
Kovalchuk-Arnott-Elias
Rolston-Josefson-Clarkson
Pelley-Sestito-Zharkov

Volchenkov-Greene
Tallinder-Urbom/Eckford
White-Corrente

Brodeur
Hedberg

hate to see zubie gone and rolston still here, along with no boo, but i like i like. i also liked what i saw from sestito, and pelley had a good year, and scoring sensation zharky will round out that decent 4th line.

This one's a little out of left field perhaps:

Parise-Zajac-Langenbrunner
Kovalchuk-Arnott-Elias
Tedenby-Josefson-Clarkson
Pelley-Sestito-Zharkov
PLL
Laine

Volchenkov-Greene
Tallinder-Urbom
Eckford-Corrente
Bergeron
Salmela

Brodeur
Hedberg

Zubrus, Rolston, Salvador & White = gone
Marc-Andre Bergeron, Teemu Laine & 5 rookies = arrive

To me, this would be the ideal:

CAPGEEK.COM CAP CALCULATOR

FORWARDS
Zach Parise ($3.125m) / Travis Zajac ($3.887m) / Dainius Zubrus ($3.400m)
Ilya Kovalchuk ($7.000m) / Jason Arnott ($4.500m) / Patrik Elias ($6.000m)
David Clarkson ($2.666m) / Jacob Josefson ($0.900m) / Jamie Langenbrunner ($2.800m)
Vladimir Zharkov ($0.850m) / Rod Pelley ($0.550m) / P-L Letourneau-Leblond ($0.525m)
Mattias Tedenby ($0.875m) / Adam Henrique ($0.845m)

DEFENSEMEN
Anton Volchenkov ($4.250m) / Andy Greene ($0.737m)
Bryce Salvador ($2.900m) / Anssi Salmela ($0.612m)
Henrik Tallinder ($3.375m) / Mark Fraser ($0.500m)
Alexander Urbom ($0.870m)

GOALTENDERS
Martin Brodeur ($5.200m) /Johan Hedberg ($1.500m)

BUYOUTS: Jay Pandolfo ($0.833m) / Andrew Peters ($0.166m)

CAPGEEK.COM TOTALS (follow @capgeek on Twitter)
(these totals are compiled using the bonus cushion)
SALARY CAP: $59,400,000; CAP PAYROLL: $58,870,000; BONUSES: $1,337,500
CAP SPACE (23-man roster): $1,867,500

Of course it means somehow magically getting rid of both Brian Rolston and Colin White without taking on any additional cap-hit as well as signing Kovalchuk for a caphit of $7million. Its what I'd like to see us enter the season with. Maybe trade Langenbrunner to someone for something of value if possible because I don't think he should be captain anymore after this past post-season's debacle and his subsequent comments.
