oh please god let it be and find a replacement now!
I know that's how it works with a regular contract, but his has been bought out. Not sure if it still applies. I would think that it should, but hey, weirder things have happened.
He's a good person and all, I just think it's dumb of him to not take the surgery. It's a pretty dumb thing to on one hand preach that veganism is good for your health etc but then refuse to do a surgery recommended by a doctor and not even so much as get another opinion.
You were 31 Georges, you're right, hence probably why the doctor wanted you to get the surgery, so you won't be an old man by 40.
I just found that kind of stupid. That having been said I can still respect the fact that he's always been a community kind of guy and tries to help out in terms of donating to charities and stuff, I just find the other stuff he said were all excuses to make himself feel better. Bottom line is if you had the surgery you'd have been off the books for an entire year and would have likely come back and been able to play, if not then could've retired. Instead he says pills and injections were the way to go though. Coming from a guy who doesn't want to harm animals and put poisonous meat into his system, I find it kind of funny that he opts to not get a necessary surgery to do pain killers and put his back through even more abuse.
Gee I wonder why you were worthless on the ice now, hum.
if he officially retires, doesn't his cap hit come off the books?
No, because he was bought out. He is no longer on our roster. If he were still on our roster, on the 3rd year, and he retired, it would come off the books. I know one can say "why didn't we wait?" or whatever, but if we dont buy him out, he doesnt retire so ends there I guess.
Name 1 thing that he can bring to any NHL team in the league, but keep in mind he's always injured, he can't skate, he can't catch up to anybody to hit them, he WON'T fight and he has very little offensive skill. What NHL team is going to want him on their team taking those things into consideration???
I liked him with Edmonton, great human being but things didn't work out in Montreal for him.
Ironic that when interviewed in Edmonton and asked if he would like to play in Montreal he said no because of the medias and their abilities to end an hockey player career.

coming to montreal was a planned stroke of genius. he sold his home in edm and moved to montreal full time. his second resto 'crudessence' on mckay and maissoneuve opens today, he works for the green party out of montreal and an RDS career is close at hand. too bad the hockey stuff didn't work out. lol

This is why I laugh when I hear people say oh it's so good he's going into politics he's a smart guy who will do well...WHAT??
Everything Georges has done in the last 2 years has been stupid and shown no common sense. From not getting his body fixed properly with surgery, to his dumb low brow product endorsements, to all the mindless indescreet and insulting things he has said in his radio interviews, BTW did he ever even go to Haiti after the quake?? This guy is just going to be another footnote in the embarrassing & wacky history of the green party of canada lulz.
BTW maybe a cap geek can clarify, but I am under the impression that if he retired BEFORE the buyout, he could've gotten his full 1.5 million salary from the Habs, right (and it would've come off the cap hit)? Instead he refused to retire before the buyout period, forcing the Habs to buy him out, so the Habs take a cap penalty for 2 years AND he also loses $500,000? Did he really think he was going to get another NHL job?? Maybe someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but it just seems like one more dumb move by Georges Laraque.
Then again after Shelley & Boogard got new contracts I guess he thought anything was possible?

one thing is sure is that if he retired before the buyout
he will not count against the cap.
though i doubt that he'll get paid.
One thing i dont understand is why he didnt made the operation.
he could've been on LTIR paid and not counted against the cap!
he made bad choices but eh its life,
