Ouch PSU. I thought they were supposed to be a real team.

UNH loses to Pitt. It was a one posetion game until a ticky tack pass Inf call late in the half put it inside the 10 then a deflected ball turned into a long TD pass that put it out of reach, I was not impressed by Pitt one bit. they have some talent on the offensive side of the ball but nothing special.

Bolden made some bad mistakes tonight, but I can say with full confidence that he's going to be very ****ing good. Not many QB's in general could've moved the offense as well between the 20's as he did. The first INT was completely Klopacz's fault, he commited too early to doubleteaming whoever the nose lineman is, and Powell got blocked while the ball was in the air (on a side note, does anyone know why that wasn't PI? Did they call it uncatchable?). 2nd interception looked worse than it really was, looked like a pretty obvious miscommunication on the route Moye was running, at least it did to me. Some other passes were bad, but damn am I excited to see this kid mature over the next 3-4 years.

Also, the O-Line completely sucks on the run. Royster has made his living off of waiting for the hole to open up and smoothly going through; he can't do that when there are no holes. Also, Tom Bradley needs to take all the players on the defense to tackling school. LB's couldn't tackle, partly because Richardson was already up to full speed because the D-Line got manhandled. Sukay looked awful today, Astorino still underwhelms me, and D'Anton Lynn (who held Julio Jones to 4 catches for 49 yards [one for 21 yards]) and Stephon Morris were encouraging.

Overall, I couldn't be happier that we're playing 'Bama this year and next. This was definitely a good learning game for a young team like this.

Penn State somehow got put into the top 25 this season despite that they have a pretty mediocre team across the board with a freshman qb to boot. Anyone who thought that game would be close was delusional. Like I said earlier in this thread, they're a 7-5 team, 8-4 at best.

Just curious, who do you think the 4/5 losses will be other than Bama, tOSU, and Iowa?

at Michigan and then.... TEMPLE

Just kidding about that but man that would be awesome to see. Living amongst penn state fans is nauseating. They'd be peeling their nittany lion magnets off their cars so fast.

Yeah, they'll probably get more money going up to FBS(at least in the short term, if Syracuse/Pitt bolt for the Big Ten in a year or two, it could make the entire Big East collapse and leave us with no conference and having to pay for stadium leasing and extra scholarships), but FCS is just a more enjoyable experience. Plus the games are on campus, as they should be, if they go up, they'll have to lease the Union's stadium or CBP because Radnor won't let them renovate the stadium.

Either way, by the time this even goes into effect, I'll be gone, but I think they have it right as it is and would prefer to see it stay that way.
I was at the Lehigh-Nova game on Saturday; quite a fun little dismantling. As for Nova going to the Big East in football, this imo is essential to save the basketball program. Maybe not next year or the year after, but maybe 5-10 years from now. Eventually the Big East will be raided for their Football schools, and the Basketball only will be left standing at the alter. I don't want to go the A(in't 10) or some new Catholic League. Elevating football may get Nova an invite to the ACC which wouldn't be too bad with UNC, Maryland and Duke as rivals. I'm proud of my Nova degree, but I would feel so much better having a 1-A team to support as well. Yes, until a long term solution locally could be worked out for a new stadium, PPL park might be the best option. Also it would be a little better to try to fill that out than Temple bringing 10-15k into the Link and having so many empty seats to look at

I graduated from a Big East school, the University of South Florida, and remain pretty well tied to our Alumni Association, as well as our university's athletic department.

Hopefully, I can shed some light on the Nova Football to the Big East situation from a bit different angle.

From my understanding, this is not a new offer. Apparently, the Big East has had a standing offer available to Villanova to join the Big East in football for a few years now. The fact that a deadline has been imposed has been interpreted by my peers as indication that the Big East is about to make additional offers to other schools, especially if 'Nova declines. The Big East is apparently considering offering schools such as Central Florida, Memphis, and/or ECU, from what I have heard rumored. There are pipe dreams by some that we may be able to coax TCU to join.

The issue in regards to Villanova football and the Big East has always been financial in nature. And I don't think anything has changed recently.

Other then being slightly better positioned, possibly, to gain insight in these sorts of matters, my opinion probably means nothing. But that being said, I personally doubt that Nova football joins the Big East. I think the offer is the sort of kind gesture that the Big East needs to make to placate its core - basketball heavy, Catholic schools - before making real offers to other schools to join its football ranks.

If any Nova grads have a different take, please offer it here. I would love to share your perspective with my USF brethren. Thanks.

Thanks for reading. And Go Bulls!

Michigan getting all they can handle from UMASS.
Yet another CAA school stepping up and giving another BCS team all they can handle

Going to the Nova/Towson game today, should be total annihilation, which will be fun. And general parking is free since it's parents' weekend.

Towson is freakin horrible. Nova should easily put half a hundred on them.

Boise is about to lose more ground in the BCS as Virginia Tech is losing at home to ECU. Boise better hope beyond hope that VT somehow finds a way to win the ACC for whatever that's worth.

VA Tech already down 17-0 to East Carolina.
WTF is going on at VT

UNH struggling against a bad Rhode Island team only up 18-13 late in the 3rd. too many stupid undisciplined penalties. something all my teams seem to have in common.

ECU is running a spread I believe. I haven't been watching it, but I saw their game vs. Tulsa and I knew this was going to be trouble. And VA Tech's defense is obviously more green than anyone imagined.
