Are the Wild so irrelevant in the league that we could make up something about them?

We're so irrelevant that Gopher thinks we play in Minneapolis. Our own Mod!

You have to call that the Minneapolis-St. Paul market don't you?

No it's the city of Minnesota.

Brett Favre's coming back to suit up for the Wild, right?

EDIT: Wish I thought of this one.

Gah. I didn't like what the guys on NHL Home Ice said about the Wild and their grading of Fletcher.

I didn't like it, because it's true.

- St. Paul and Minneapolis are in a dispute over the land rights for the Xcel and the Vikings. Apparently Favre coming back means hockey won't occur this year so everyone can watch him play

-The Twins demand a new stadium to play in for the playoffs since it will be too cold and the Xcel was selected as the best choice

- I'm in favor that the symbol within our logo is a Unicorn

- We are thinking about chaning our colors to yellow and white so more Wisconsin people will come cheer us on

- We hired Puckdaddy to be the new assistant head coach

- Sather has expressed interest in becoming the President of the team

- We are officially changing our names to the Finnish National Team and will only have Finnish players from here on out

- Kesha (told you, not using the $ sign) is engaged to Mikko Koivu this should also stop all the trade requests for him

This one is nice because it can be done subtly. If a few people, every once in a while, will just drop an off-handed reference to "the unicorn in the Wild logo," it could really trip people up.

Alternatively, we could insist that Nordy is a unicorn, or he will be for the upcoming season.

Over the Metrodome? Nah, I'd instead make the rumor that the Wild are demanding a new, retractable roof stadium, as they're tired of playing hockey indoors.

I'm down with the unicorn one. If I get time, I'll try to write up a faux-press release on it.

I've always paid attention to the Wild, but then again I've always liked Minnesota based teams (and not from there).

Any irrelevancy is related to marginal success, no big ticket players outside of the often injured Gaborik, and, most of all, a boring style of play. Lucky the new management and coaching has changed the latter which will hopefully help the former.

Their division also has 3 Canadian teams, so the North West as a whole loses some interest across the US. Colorado was a big deal, but they were winning Cups with a star studded lineup. Now they're not getting much more attention than Minnesota, which is illustrated to me in the often underrated Paul Stastny, who I often compare to Koivu.

I'm just passing by, saw this thread title on the index page. Literally for a good few moments. This thread has potential.

Edit: After reading all the suggestion, I honestly think you guys could create a literal three day fire storm on HF if you got the rumor going that Sather is stepping down to take over as President of the Wild. The unicorn logo won't even make it five minutes.

Quote:
James Sheppard is illiterate.

- Penn and Teller are silent, minority owners.

- Xcel has been struck by lightning over 50 times.
These ones could also work. However, I think the Sather one would work the best. It would completely shake up the Eastern Conference's fans, it would deliver one of the largest fanbases from the mediocre tyrant they've suffered under for over a decade (read some of the Sather threads on the Rag board, they're hilarious), and when the truth comes out, it would be a middle finger from your friendly Wild fans... you know, the ones you all forgot.

Also the Rags have the Wild in their sights probably more than any other fan base since they just got Boogaard and Gaborik last season. They might be the easiest for you guys to sucker.

You also want to make sure that whatever the rumor your spreading is plausible (which why the unicorn one won't work) but has an element of ridiculousness to it so people remember it and spread it. Also you want to come with something that has HUGE NEWZZZZ!!! potential so that people will carry it and spread it.

These are all just opinions from an outside of course. I don't want to try to tell you guys what to do.

I think it would be kinda funny to see the reactions only issue with it, is there are quite a few Rag fans on here who would know its a farce. The "Kesha" one and the unicorn probably have the best leg to stand up on when pulling a fast one on everyone

Gee no, I must have missed that. I thought that was his twin on the Rangers and he was simply on IR in Minni.

I mean ever. That's really the only big ticket player they've ever had.

Given the Rangers have taken Voros, Gaborik, DR and Boogaard in the last couple years, wouldn't they be taking over the Wild rather the other way around?
