The best part is just starting. Now Burke is against the wall, he has to flip a defenseman for a forward yet every GM in the league knows he is desperate. He's not getting a top 6 forward unless Schenn's name enters the picture.
Good luck with that theory

id be happy if beauchemin was traded for any legit top 6 forward, he had some tough spots last year, but there were times where he looked great too.

i doubt burke trades him though, looks like lebda at 1.5 per is our #7 dman

Are you seriously trying to convince Leaf fans that Jason Blake doesn't suck?

We have a large amount of first hand experience to suggest the opposite.

I consider the fact that Burke traded Toskala and Blake, in the same deal, to be a minor miracle. The fact that he actually got a return for it is almost unbelievable.

Mad props to him on a personal level for fighting through the leukemia, but on the ice he just doesn't have what it takes. Every time he stepped on the ice it was a virtual guarantee that he would take and shot and miss by at least 5 feet, either that or hit the goalie dead in the chest.

so 1 year deals suck because they are for a rental player, but 2 year deals at an ok salary sucks because its too long? i dont get it.

he doesnt have a ntc

3.8M is a fair price. Maybe my idea of the value of a dollar is off, but until he regains his form from his time in Anaheim, I think he's over-paid.

Leafs may have to add on some, but all 5 are marginally overpaid forwards, just as Beauchemin is probably overpaid for a 2-3 tweener.
Good job, just got who added something backwards

Anaheim got straight up ripped off. I know you always have a soft spot for the GM that brought you a Cup but come on.

lol.

Lupul is a .28 GPG and 0.55 PPG player. He's probably good for 20 goals a year.

Top 6 player x 30 teams in league = Top 180 players.

20 goals would put Lupul easily in the top 180 players each year.

Lupul = top 6

Former 1st round pick, only 20 yrs old. All reports and scouting say he'll be in the AHL by next year.

According to HF's rankings, he's an 8.0 C, and Anaheim's second best prospect (only behind Fowler).

Gardiner = Blue-chip Prospect

It's rather a 6th round pick if we keep Lupul, and a 4th if we don't. 50/50 right now if he stays or not, so we'll avg out the value of a 4th and 6th and say it's about equal to a 5th.

value of 5th round pick = Draft Pick

Top-6er (Albeit overpayed), Good prospect, pick

If Beauch can get that, Kaberle for Staal doesn't seem out of the question
