2010 Top Prospects - #11 version 2.0

Osala wins this one in a walk, and I can't say I disagree with that despite voting for Murphy. Osala is probably our safest prospect in that he'll be able to find a role in the NHL, but also has good upside to his game.

results so far:
1) RW/C Jeff Skinner - 37.74%
2) D Jamie McBain - 70.73%
3) LW Zach Boychuk - 72.97%
4) C/RW Zac Dalpe - 48.78%
5) C Riley Nash - 45.95%
6) W Drayson Bowman - 32.56%
7) D Bobby Sanguinetti - 51.16%
8) D Brian Dumoulin - 76.92%
9) D Justin Faulk - 35.00%
10) W Oskar Osala - 51.61%

added C Nick Dodge. Next to add: D Rasmus Rissanen, D Casey Borer, LW Nicolas Blanchard

this one should be interesting. There's going to be the Murphy camp, the Peters camp, the Terry camp and maybe some votes starting to go to Alt or Biega.

Terry. Has solid offensive upside, but good defensive and leadership qualities that he can fall back on if he can't fit into a second line role.

From the other thread:

With all due respect to the other guys on the list, I don't see how it's possible not to vote for Peters at this point. He's far more likely to have an NHL career.

Again, still can't vote, but put me down for Dodge. He's GOING to be in the NHL helping a team's PK and 3rd/4th line, it's just a matter of time. You can't say that about guys like Murphy or Alt, and as a backup Peters won't have too much of an impact.

I'm personally voting for Dodge to get the 4th line job this year, his faceoff prowess can certainly help the team, and with Sutter and Dodge as our #1 and #2 PK centers, it should make up for our lack of defensively minded defensemen.

I voted Peters. Gotta go with the lock for an NHL job, at least short term.

I just got my The Hockey News' annual Yearbook, which details each team for the upcoming year. I immediately flipped to the Canes' top 10 prospects and laughed out loud at their rankings:

1) Drayson Bowman
2) Jeff Skinner
3) Jamie McBain
4) Bobby Sanguinetti
5) Zac Dalpe
6) Justin Faulk
7) Justin Peters
8) Brian Dumoulin
9) Mark Alt
10) Riley Nash

I don't know what's worse: having Bowman at #1 or excluding Boychuk entirely. It seems that they made the rankings without actually watching any of our players. For Atlanta, they put Patrice Cormier as their top prospect (over Burmistrov).

5 of the top 10 have been added since January 1, 2010. That's a hell of a deadline and draft.

Still voting for Murphy, as I still think he has a higher ceiling than Peters, but I can see the argument for the more known quantity in goal.

Are we still waiting for more voters to chime in on this poll? I'd love to move to the next one soon. This has turned out to be a pretty boring offseason and with no Kovalchuk drama in the past week or so the only thing that would entertain me is to vote for #12.

There'd need to be a tie-breaker.

forgot that I had a time limit on this one. It's a tie between Peters and Murphy.
