8/16 - Who gets traded first?

This seems to come up in various topics, but there are a few players which I can see GMCF trade. There's the potential UFAs, players I hate and last but not least, Brent Burns (aka the only player other teams know and want besides Mikko Koivu). With some flexibility and options, which player gets traded first and when?

I thought that as well, but Richards has a mancrush on his work ethic. I don't see them trading him unless its for a 1st rounder or some forward with crazy skill. May throw in Wellman in on a multi trade. I wouldn't put it past a dman leaving though.

Was just about to ask, is that a troll or what bigt?

The last thing this team needs to do is trade away prospects.

Just stirrin the pot the only reason I did bring him up over the others was, as it was stated awhile ago, he was brought in to play NHL minutes...not Houston. There is no place on the 2nd or probably 3rd line with Bouchard back for the kid. So he either bumps Mittens off the top line, or he plays 4th line checking minutes (which is a total waste). All about who wins the battle of "resources"

He's also a free agent at the end of the year.

But in all seriousness, I'm going with Miettinen at the deadline.

No way this team loses a Finnish player. Won't happen. The president of Finland won't let it happen

i'd be willing to trade both granlund and wellman if it involved getting a high powered sniper or top pairing defenseman.

first to be traded? someone inconsequential to the grand scheme of things. probably Harding when someone realizes their bargain basement vets aren't going to get them back to the playoffs.

That would be a guaranted method of keeping this team in 2nd gear. Granlund and Wellman might fetch 1st liner, but that wouldn't be enough to get this team to the next level. Rather just chill for a year, then try Granlund on the 2nd line between Lats and Havlat, Wellman as the winger sniper for Koivu, and use Bouchard or the cap space left by his departure to sign a top-6 forward for Koivu's other wing. Fill the bottom lines up with Cullen, Clutterbuck, Nystrom, Brodziak, Gillies, and maybe even Sheppard if he lasts that long.

As for who will be traded first? Miettinen. Then Brunette if we are out of the playoffs at the deadline. And maybe Kobasew if he can't find a place on the roster.

I actually think the defense is set. Some development by Barker, Stoner, and one of Prosser/Faulk/Scandella/Cuma, along with a bounceback by Burns and Schultz, and our D corp would look pretty good.

If that high-powered Sniper is Bobby Ryan, you just tell me where I can sign up.

Your blind man-love for Nick Schultz kills your credibility. That's why I changed my name from OndrejFialaFan.

Miettinen isn't going anywhere. Wish everyone would stop hoping, dreaming, smoking on that topic. Same reason Schultz isn't getting moved.

Finally someone agrees. Miettinen put up 42 points in 2009-10 and 44 in 2008-09 . His stats are almost identical to Matt Cullen's from 2009-10.

It's not blind man-love.

I, myself, am a defenseman, and I know how hard it is to do all the little things that Schultz does so easily.

Until last year, Schultz was considered a top-paring, defensive Dman by most fans. Then the entire team hit the fan last season, and now Wild fans are crying bloody murder for half the team, including Schultz.

Schultz is a good skater, great gap control, very solid shot-blocking, and until last season when Richard told him to rush the puck, nearly perfect positionally as a Dman. Add the fact that he's reasonably strong and can break the puck out of the zone, he's definitely a great guy to have on your blueline.

While I realize that Schultz did benefit from playing with Johnsson, I also realize that Schultz played completely lights-out when he was paired with Burns.

Move Schultz, after losing Johnsson, and this team is going to be in major, major trouble in our zone.

Good 1000th post. I like Schultz too, just not his cap hit.

Look at it objectively;

Would you rather have Scuderi at 3.4 or Schultz at 3.5?

Sheppard? Will he make it through the preseason? Likely gets claimed off waivers before we get the "conditional late round pick" Brunette for sure once the playoffs are a distant memory.
