Your teams biggest rivals?

list your teams biggest rivals. the list can go as long as the number of rivals that your team has. For the Canucks:

1. Colorado Avalanche
2. Minnesota Wild
3. Calgary Flames
4. St. Louis Blues
5. Toronto I guess, since there are always fights in the crowd when the leafs come to GM.

Devils

1. Rangers
2. Flyers

Ever since the Niedermayer hit by Domi, Toronto games are pretty heated too.

Toronto Maple Leafs

1. The rest of Canada

Ok seriously

1. Ottawa
2. Montreal
3. Buffalo (I guess, closest rival)
4. Philly (maybe something is building, they always eliminate us in the playoffs, except for that time in 1999)

Montreal:

1. Boston
2. Leafs

Although I hate the Leafs more, it's hard to argue against Boston being our top rival at the moment.

For the Flames:

Oilers and Canucks. Based mostly on proximity

Leafs and Habs. All the displaced Easterners

Preds:

Blue Jackets
Wings
Blues

and a burgeoning rivalry with the Nucks and Flames that I'd like to see continue to grow

Kings:

Colorado
I guess Detroit is on practically every team's list

That's probably it. But I'm not sure either would consider the Kings a rival. Colorado took care of the Kings twice in the playoffs(both fun series though). Detroit has as well, except when Yzerman and Shanahan are hurt. It used to be Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton, but with the new divisions, that's all messed up. The Kings used to play the Oilers every year in the playoffs. They haven't met since the early 90's. Anaheim and San Jose should be there, but the Kings have never met either in the playoffs. When Anaheim has been good, the Kings have been bad, and you can flip that as well.

I suppose you put the Ducks and Sharks on the list, but it feels like a forced rivalry based only on geography than anything that's happened on the ice when it counts.

For the Flyers:

1. Devils

2. Leafs
3. Rangers
4. Senators

The Rangers, Islanders and Penguins have all struggled to such the extent that it has become too difficult for the Flyers to have any real feelings of a rivalry with them.

IMO for Vancouver

1.) St Louis Blues - pure hatred when these teams play. almost always someone ends up injured.
2.) Colorado Avalanche - the players that originated the original rivalry between these two teams are gone, but now with the recent regular season success of the Canucks these two teams are in heavy competition for the division title. next season this could end up once again ending up as #1 after the Bertuzzi incident.
3.) Calgary Flames - after the playoffs Calgary took over Edmonton's spot as Vancouver's #3 rivals as Edmonton slid big time down the list.
4.) Minnesota Wild - they consider Vancouver their biggest rivals, and although Vancouver players claim there is no animosity between these two teams there is no denying they dislike each other.
5.) Edmonton Oilers - slipping down the rivalry list fast.

Sabres

1. Leafs - anyone who has not attended a BUF/TOR game at HSBC Arena, no matter what side you're on, if any, is missing out. One of the most underrated rivalries in the league, because no one cares about the Sabres, and Leaf fans are more concerned about the Sens. Always entertaining, atmosphere is electric.
2. Flyers
3. Islanders
4. Stars
5. Penguins
HM: Habs, Sens, Bruins, Rangers

I'd put Atlanta on that list too. What with the Kovy / Comrie scrap and their recent bench clearing brawl. These teams don't like each other.

From NJ: Philadelphia.

If the Rangers were any good, there'd be a rivalry there too. But the only team I consider a "rival" at this point is the Flyers.

Thats true (although I wouldn't consider the Isles that bad). But imagine an Atlantic Div, where every team could fight for the 1st spot... Pittsburgh, Philly, Rangers, Isles and Devils. Practically, everybody hates each other.

My Rangers list:
1. Philly
2. Isles
3. Devils

Really? You hate the Flyers more than the Isles and Devils? Wow. For some reason, I find that surprising. I would have guessed Isles, Devils, then Flyers.

The lists seem a little contemporary and short-term......Last year or 2, just because one team may have sucked, or 2 teams met in the playoffs, does not ruin, or create a hugh rivalry....they are year in and year out.

sure playoff series can create or influence rivalries. one game alone can start one.
