Peters rookie year he was awesome, he has beaten numerous heavies and has an infamous victory over Brashear. He is not a bad fighter and an upgrade over Tarnasky.

Sad that we didn't get a guy like McGrattan to give us some good old-fashioned heavyweight entertainment. But like some have already mentioned, he's probably for Rochester more than he is for Florida so we'll probably rarely see him in a Panthers sweater.

Does the Amerks have any tough guys down there with the departure of Mac? Is Bonneau still down there?

True, but Mac couldn't really do anything else. Like play hockey.

Peters best game last year was when he "forgot" to tie down his jersey and was thrown out 10 seconds into the game. It was his best because he was off the ice. I can't remember one fight he won last year.

Good contract, mainly because it's 2-way...

I liked when we signed him last yr because I felt like most of you do right now. OOOO big strong heavy weight and he can actually play a little.

I was wrong... dead...wrong. He can't fight with the big boys at all any more and he for sure can't play @ a NHL level. He'll be some nice protection for the Amerks... thats about it.

Good luck guys.

I've always acknowledged him being a team leader as he was a big fan favorite in Buffalo, and I'm sure he will become one down here as well. Although, with DeBoer, I'm not sure how much ice time he'll get or how often he's called up.
I wouldn't say he was a fan favorite in Buffalo. He is a really nice guy and in 05-06 and 06-07 (when the Sabres were playing really well) the fans put up with him being on the roster because he amused us. immediately after that, fans wanted him gone because he did nothing for the team. Realistically, he will see more time in Rochester than Sunrise.

Not sure if you attended games, but Peters was more of a favorite from those at the arena then those on message boards. lol

For the average Panthers fan who attends the games, which the majority don't know a whole lot about what's going on with the rest of the league or the team's true direction at this moment, he'll be a huge fan favorite even if he spends 99% of his time in the penalty box.

Right on. Folks like to pretend hockey players are like NHL10 where all the hitting and abuse add up to nothing. The more skill the better. The reality is, you ice a bunch of pansies, you're gonna lose the ugly way. Alot. And this team is soft. Now, I look forward to a page or two of the same rhetoric I read in threads about Big Mac, Tarnasky, and Belak. Carry on......

I'm just not sure why we wanted to downgrade in the "fighting skills" department. Mac is a pretty good fighter and could really handle himself with the heavyweights of the NHL. And although Peters has heart and will drop the gloves (which I respect), I wouldn't go as far to say that he's a pretty good fighter and could really handle himself with the heavyweights of the NHL.

Just with all things being equal -- the prospect of being mostly in Rochester, with some playing time in Florida -- why wouldn't we have kept the better guy for the job? I mean I want to watch a fight no matter who it is, but I'd also like see us win those fights more than not.

If we are going to tank the season, our entire 4th line should be goons and they should play 25 minutes a night. One of them is bound to score 15 goals with that much ice time. Then we trade him for a 2nd Round pick to a contender.

It's probably due to DeBoer's refusal to play an enforcer.

I hope this signing is Tallon's way of telling him to either start playing an enforcer or else he won't be the coach much longer. I hope he finally changes this year, but DeBoer can't keep allowing teams to take shots at what few skill players we have.

Tallon wanted MacIntyre back. People are ignoring that MacIntyre's contract with Edmonton for the upcoming year is a one-way contract, not a two-way contract. That's the main difference, here.

Seriously, he sucks. Trust me, there's a reason Lou Lamoriello used his first ever buyout on Andrew *** Peters.

Great guy though, really nice and if any of you get a chance to meet him, go and say hello to him!
Last season only the Devils wanted him, and after a training camp invite made the mistake of making it a one-way deal, as well as being a two-year despite the fact that the second year was even more surprising, since it appears no other team wanted him [although this is unclear, he may have held out over the summer for the kind of benefits the Devils gave]. This year he finally receives an offer and of course jumps on it, who can blame him? Smart move by Peters and the Panthers.

LOL, look at his hockey fight card for last year on hockeyfights.com. He won or draw most of the time. Clearly you have a bad memory.
