At worse the Moose get a brother combo. At best Bill could be a viable 4th liner, but probobly not this season.

Not a huge surprised... might have been MG's plan all along to get another brother duo in our system (likely with the moose next year).

College player drafted by Chicago 38th overall in 2007. Has great speed but has been known to not have the hands, has been in NCAA since.

Was traded to Toronto with Versteeg. Was not signed by Toronto... became a UFA.

Canucks signed his older brother Lee, a small D-man who has been playing in Europe and the KHL a few months ago.

Lee Sweatt:
Quote:
Lee Sweatt (born August 13, 1985 in Elburn, Illinois) is an American professional ice hockey defenseman currently playing for Vancouver Canucks in the NHL and formerly for TPS, Dinamo Riga in Kontinental Hockey League and EC Red Bull Salzburg in the Austrian Hockey League.

Sweatt played in the United States Hockey League for the Chicago Steel before playing for Colorado College. He turned pro during the 2006-07 AHL season, playing 11 games for the San Antonio Rampage. He signed for TPS in 2007. His younger brother Bill Sweatt was drafted by the Chicago Blackhawks in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft and currently plays for the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Sweatt was a member of the United States national men's inline hockey team at the 2008 Men's World Inline Hockey Championships. The United States finished fourth in the competition, losing to Germany in the Bronze Medal Game. Sweatt registered four goals and four assists in six games for the Americans on his way to being named the Best Defenseman of the tournament[1] [2].

Sweatt returned to TPS in January of 2010 and won the SM-liiga Championship with the team. He made a new record for points scored by a TPS defenseman in one playoff season. He was named a member of the SM-liiga All Star Team and also won the Pekka Rautakallio trophy for best defenseman.

On May 31, 2010, Sweatt signed a contract with the Vancouver Canucks.
Bill Sweatt:

Quote:
Bill Sweatt (born September 28, 1988 in Elburn, Illinois) is an American ice hockey left winger, currently playing for the Vancouver Canucks. Sweatt is also an accomplished roller hockey player, who has competed at national level tournaments in this sport as well. Drafted 38th overall in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft by the Chicago Blackhawks, he was traded to the Toronto Maple Leafs on June 30, 2010, along with forward Kris Versteeg. Sweatt decided not to sign a contract with the Maple Leafs and became a free agent on August 16, 2010.

On August 19, 2010, Sweatt signed a contract with the Canucks and will re-join his brother.

Can see this coming from a mile away.

Hooray for brotherly love.

The Manitoba Moose are going to be pretty strong this season.

Disregard Leafs, acquire talent.

Sweatt was named Top Forward at the IIHF Under-18 World Championships in 2006, where the United States won gold. He also participated in the 2007 World Junior Ice Hockey Championships for the US, coming home with a bronze medal. While playing roller hockey, Sweatt won a gold medal at the 2006 World InLine Championships.

The last couple of Leafs castoffs were pretty damn good when they were here.

Didn't he want a chance to make the NHL ? Well, he had that in Toronto. What a dummy.

very pleased with this signing

he is not some superstar, just a average player, no need to get so worked up.

Its an okay signing, but likely wont be anything special.

I'm happy with Mueller instead... I have been a huge fan of his since the Olympics.

Helps put some talent back into our system since we lost Grabner. At the very worst, we lost nothing for it, at the very best, he eventually cracks the NHL lineup.

Better this than signing Isbister or Ritchie. Oh the dark days.

Now if only he could find a way to screw the Flames somehow, he'd complete the trifecta.

Welcome to Vanc...err..Manitoba you Sweatty S.O.B!

FYI: @NHLSouresSay Bill Sweatt's deal with the Canucks, 3 year entry level, wont make the jump to the NHL this year but he will be a solid player for the Moose
