What are you looking forward to this season?

It's 45 days till the start of the season and most of us have obsessed on the negative aspects because of Homer's off season moves, so let's think ahead with some positives! What are you looking forward to? For me:

Looking at the line combinations and seeing what works and what doesn't. Can the Briere/Hartnell/Leino line continue their playoff magic? Will Zherdev play well and on who's line? Will Carcillo walk the line without crossing it? How will a full season under Lavi work out for everyone? Will Jeff Reece improve Leighton's game?

I expect Richards to have a better season. He was exhausted by the final round after having gone through training camp, Team Canada camp, problems with the media, the firing of Stevens, an up and down regular season and a very hard fought, super pressure packed Olympics. I also think Carter will produce more than last year because he really benefits from Lavi's system. Coburn should have a better year and hopefully having extra dmen will alleviate some of the minutes from Pronger and Timonen.

Is it October yet?

A full year of Lavi behind the bench.
Seeing how JVR and Giroux progress.
Seeing what this defense can do against Pittsburgh and Washington.

And yes, trading for a goalie.

the chances of our goalie situation going smoothly are incredibly low. it will likely be more like this:

yeah, i can't wait to see the gameday threads, the one thing i look forward to about the goalie situation is the inevitable hilarity in GDTs.

positive things i can't wait for: seeing if giroux, JVR, carle, and coburn perform well.

On both accounts.

JC- 33-30-63pts
JVR- 19-24-43pts

Give me some consistent hockey, do not lose more than two games in a row during the season, win 65% of the games in which are decided by just one goal, top 5 on the PK, be a more resilient team during the regular season and Laviolette to have the core of this team more prepared going into game #1.

I could care less if this team has one scorer in the top league leaders, just give an honest effort top to bottom every game and positive results will occur.

Just watching live hockey in general.

A full year of Laviolette and seeing how Zherdev does should be fun. Other then that, I'm expecting a bad season ultimately.

If all this goalie ******** blows up in our faces like I think it will then I look forward to seeing how that's handled.

I don't think the goalie thing will blow up that bad. I think we will still make the playoffs but lose the division to NJD or PIT.

It is just going to be really painful to see our tandem give up soft goals when the team is trying to rally.

Michael Leighton, good or bad, and how much the new and improved defense can continue to cover for him, and if working with Reese for an extended period of time can make him stop it with the rebounds and 5-hole issue. And what the team can do with Laviolette's system fully in place for a year.

Why would you look forward to that? don't you want the Flyers to succeed. I'm looking forward to a new goalie and Giroux having a Superstar caliber year and getting signed before Superstar season for a cap-friendly contract.

I'm hoping that if there is bad goaltending, which I think there will be, they won't let it get to the point where other teams will ask for the moon for a goalie in return for too much from us. Leighton and Boosh should be watched very carefully and if there are patterns and problems, waiting too long will be disastrous.

I'm looking forward to seeing how our defense does. I'm also hoping to see Backlund play some more NHL games. I know a few of the people on this board like the Kings, what do they think of O'Donnell? Is he a real upgrade? I was under the impression that he was, but some Kings fans said he was sometimes a liability last year.

A parade in Philadelphia on June 17, 2011.

Seriously, I'm interested in seeing a full season under Lavy. And I'd like to see the best defensive unit of the past 30 years in action.
