Connor Brown vs Charles Hudon

Connor Brown
Drafted: 6th round (156th overall), 2012
Born: 1994-01-14
Size: 5'11'' 170 lbs
AHL: 11 games - 3 goals - 5 assists - 8 points

Charles Hudon
Drafted: 5th round (122nd overall), 2012
Born: 1994-06-23
Size: 5'10'' 184 lbs
AHL: 12 games - 2 goals - 9 assists - 11 points

Both lead their AHL teams as 20 year old rookies with similar size/late round pick background, who do you think ends up with a better career?

Leafs fans pick Brown.
Canadiens fans pick Hudon.
Poll degrades into popularity contest between Maple Leafs and Canadiens.
Canadiens win.

hard to say. Based on the numbers (specifically Browns's 128 pt season) I might favour Brown. Then again there is the McDavid factor as well. Brown has very very good hands. Hudon is likely more defensively responsible.

He didn't play much with McDavid and actually produced more when they weren't together

also brown is not a liability and his 2 way game is not a sore spot he kills penalties in his first year I wont say who I'd take because I have a obvious bias but I will say that browns skating was his main sore spot and he looks worlds better at that this year

Both teams are lucky to have late round picks develop to the point where they are worth talking about. Too early to say anything about a NHL career for either.

I take Connor Brown because of his insane work ethic. He's the kind of guy that gives 120% in every aspect of his life. It's that drive that'll get him to the NHL and allow him to be a very effective player.

Hudon is stronger physically and more versatile, but it's hard to go against Brown's 128pts season. Still Hudon seems more like an NHLer at this point.

As many have pointed out, Brown's season came when he was not with McDavid.

He's made improvements every year since being drafted, and has looked good at the AHL level too so he's removing worries about him adapting to the pro game.

I'm not making an x is better than x argument, but maybe check out some Brown footage. It's too early to tell at this point who has stronger tools IMO

Never been sold on Hudon- since long before he was drafted.

I've been wrong before, of course.

Option C: John Scott. Has a goal in the NHL this season. More than these two jokers have combined. #ScottforPresident

Myth: Brown only produced in the OHL because of McDavid.

He rarely played with McDavid.

Talk about a false dichotomy.

No, he didn't only play in the OHL because of his McDavid. No, he didn't only score 128 points because of McDavid. But he played with McDavid fairly often.

Hudon stronger??? lol, have you seen Hudon off the ice, the guy looks like a kid he is small and skinny, no way he is 5'10....id say he is 5'08/150 with not much strenth so the Brown i saw play who holds his own on the ice must have changed to a super weak player.

brown's production increased when mcdavid was out of the lineup. Not to mention they were on different lines most of the year anyways.

Are you really going to argue with me over this? I went to every game last season. They were always on the PP together, and played together even strength for most of the first half (up until the Gaunce trade), then again through pretty much the entire second half and the playoffs.

I followed and this is not entirely true. They really didn't play together that much at all

Isn't it Fox that barely played with McDavid?
