2010-11 Sens Breakout Player

Who will be the Senators' Breakout Player of the year for 2010-11?

Basically, who do you think will either improve (or in somecases rebound) on their 2010 season?

Feel free to post a list, or even do the opposite of breakout, and name who you think will regress in the upcoming year?

Analysis/reasoning is appreciated.

Personally, a lot of people think Spezza is due for a return to elite status but my bet is on Milan Michalek for top breakout player. I think Spezza will certainly recover from last season's low total, but I've been thinking about Michalek for a while now. He started last season on fire (even stuck with Cheechoo for a chunk of time) and his hands and legs seemed to disappear after his mid-season injury.

Last Season
Michalek 34 Pts
22 G 14 A

Next Season
Michalek 65 Pts
32G 33A

Agreed for Milan, he's a great player that had back luck last year. I still remember that game against the Sharks where he was the best player on the ice, using his speed and finding open areas.

My next guess would be Nick Foligno. He had an off year last year and was still coping with the loss of his mother. 40+ points as a two-way winger.

If Michalek and Spezza can stay relatively healthy, then 9MM should put up a good amount of points and perhaps a career high.

Foligno with a healthy season could also get back on track with his sophomore season and perhaps put in 20 goals.

I'm not really sure who the breakout player will be, my guess will be Butler or Wick when they are called up.

MM is a good choice, but i'm gonna go with regin. He should experience a bigger PPG increase than milan.

Agreed but I still think Milan pots 50-60 pts, guess that means Regin should hit 60-70, which seems a little unrealistic, but still possible if were firing on all cylinders.

I agree with this 100%

I don't wanna say Michalek and Regin. Michalek had his breakout season in SJ. Regin, well he may have a breakout season, but everyone's already expecting it.

Foligno I think will have a 20+ goal season. Also getting more points.

Elliott too, he will establish himself as the starter I think. Leclaire is damaged goods, so he'll have to prove himself, I think he'll be good.

Brian Lee is gonna make it as a legit top 4 Dman this year. On one hand I hope not because I ****ing despise the fella, but on the other hand I've thought he can be a top 4 D for a while and I'd love to see that come true.

My prediction is that the Bingo watchers will be giving us rave reviews about Gryba half-way through the season.

I think Michalek will be. Wouldn't surprise me to see him get 35 goals this year.

Foligno or Michalek would be my guesses, but if Regin stays with Spezza he might breakout.

As for Leclaire, I just don't trust his durability to carry him through the entire season.

Hoping Foligno breaks out, Campoli looked much improved down the stretch hopefully he builds off that.

I'm going with Karlsson, 40-45 points.

LeClaire's problem has been conditioning. I heard an interview with the Sens' new goalie coach who is familiar with him and he said as much. Poor conditioning = injury every time. Wamsley will address this with him.

Elliott for me 29-30 wins last year in his first full season. I feel that he can maybe reach 35-38 wins this year and hopefully 40.

I expect most of the team will rebound somewhat. I wouldn't say that last season was dismal in terms of production, but this season, hopefully the chemistry has been set and we'll see players flourish a bit more. The addition of Gonchar won't hurt either. That being said, I believe that Foligno, Michalek and Leclaire will breakout significantly.

Though even great conditioning can't help you when Mike Fisher plays target practice with your head.

His head was too big & fat? Time to slim down that noggin.

Hopefully when Leclaire hits the gym Fisher won't hit him in the head with a medicine ball.
