I sure would like to see Lats and Havlat playing with Koivu but I don't think we will see that. Maybe on PP's though, who knows...

I think it will be more like:

Brunette-Koivu-Miettinen
Latendresse-Cullen-Havlat
Nystrom-Madden-Kobasew
Staubitz-Brodziak-Clutterbuck

Burns - Barker
Zidlicky - Schultz
Zanon - Stoner

Backstrom
Harding

I could see Bouchard start on a lower line and move as he progresses. I don't see him playing center with the signings of Madden and Cullen.

Do I think Cuma has a chance this season? I'm not the best at tracking prospects but the general consensus around here seems to be Scandella is further along in his development.

This is how I think the lines will look at the start:
Bruno-Koivu-Mittens
Lats-Cullen-Havlat
Kobasew-Brodziak-Bouchard
Nystrom-Madden-Clutterbuck

Schultz-Burns
Zanon-Zidlicky
Stoner-Barker

I think they will use the 4th line as their checking line against the opposing 1st line. As far as defense, I know Barker and Burns were together a lot...I just think Burns needs someone to always stay back and that is how Schultz is effective anyway so it's a win-win to have Schultz paired with Burns.

When you look at the line combos on paper, it seems that what the Wild lack in top end offense, they more than make up for in top to bottom forward toughness. Our 3rd and 4th lines will be very tough to compete against.

Wow those are some interesting lines. I mean, why spend $3.5 million on a 2nd line center so he can be a 3rd line winger? And why have Chuck Kobasew be a 4th liner? And why is Bouchard a center when he's never been one and there actually is center depth this year?

I would be very surprised to see Bouchard start on the first line, regardless of how healthy he is...I see him being eased back into the lineup since he missed all of last season except one game. I know he will have training camp and exhibitions but missing one whole year of games/practice/etc. will be tough on him. This is all speculation of course, and maybe I'm being a bit pessimistic about his ability to pick-up and be the Bouchard we all remember, but I just don't see him being put up against the other teams' top checking unit and defense pair.

that's why i put the "healthy" part in there. I don't think he'll be up to speed either, but when/if he is, it would be a waste for him to be given 3rd line minutes IMO. Even a 3/4 Bouchard is better than a 100% Mittens. Then again, throwing him in there with someone with good speed like kobasew might work better as they enter the zone together. *shrug*

a lot of people on here simply can't wrap their minds around Koivu being able to play with anyone but his betrothed; for all i know, Richards could be of the same opinion.

assuming all is well health/fitness wise (and also assuming Richards' continuing distrust of Schultz):

Brunette-Koivu-Havlat
Lats-Cullen-Bouchard
Kobasew-Brodziak-Mittens
Nystrom/Staubitz-Madden-Clutterbuck

Burns-Barker
Zanon-Zidlicky
Schultz-Stoner

God help us (and Backstrom) if he puts Burns and Zid on the same pairing all year--we're guaranteed to turn the puck over 80% of their shifts.

edit: thanks jocksta18...don't know how i forgot clutterbuck. changed.

No Clutterbuck?

As far as the healthy part in your previous post, I think we would probably all define healthy a little bit different for Bouchard. To me, healthy would be lasting a month or so through the season without any games missed due to concussion symptoms or any other small nagging injuries considering he hasn't played in a year. Even if he is deemed 100% recovered after preseason and training camp, I still wouldn't consider him "healthy" because he's been out of the game so long. After he plays for awhile and has been hit a few times and his health has been tested, then I will consider him "healthy".

uhg. good catch. was at yet another wedding, not paying enough attention.

I say healthy I mean effective...quite honestly I don't think he'll be there next season but IF he is, my opinion stands: he gets a lot of ice--more than miettenin at least.

Shep should be circling the drain with this organization having failed under two regimes. don't know how i thought of him but missed clutterbuck--fixed.

Butch (when he will be 100% and back) on the same line as Lats would be sick.

This is how I would do it. Since Koivu won't be playing the PK (Madden, Cullen, Brodziak will), he'll get some minutes with Kobasew and Bouchard as well.

PP #
Lats-Bouchard-Miettinen
Cullen-Barker
Cullen would take the draws.

I still think that Koivu will be playing the PK, he was probably one of our best PKer's last year.

Cullen would take the draws.
Didn't Havlat spend some PP time on the blue line last year? I know they put him on D toward the end of the game as a less drastic comeback strategy than the extra attacker, but I thought he was there on the PP sometimes, too.

He was, but it was during the part of the year where Shane Hnidy was the other option.
