Value of Tyler Myers to Dallas

What would it take to get Myers to Dallas

Brad Richards, James Neal, and a 1st round pick?

How about the '99 Stanley Cup and we'll call it a deal?

Now add Glennie, Larsen and maybe there's a chance there isn't hysterical laughter coming from the Buffalo FO.

Bottom line: It would take an act of God or an overpayment of Hershel Walker proportions to get Myers out of Buffalo.

I'd even settle for an admission from Bettman and Hull that the goal shouldn't have counted.

Not a chance the Stars pry Myers from the Sabres, it's not even worth trying....

And that Cup was ours, fair and square!

Eriksson, Neal, Benn, Fistric.

That's what it'd cost. And neither team would pull the trigger on that.

Okay, not even a Sabres fan and generally I'm in favour of anything that weakens my team's divisional opponents but honestly? Myers worth can't be measured, his ability at his age... Few, very few defencemen of his size have ever shown the ability to control a game.

Myers, Stafford + 2nd rounder in 2011 for:

The Alamo, the Whataburger corporation, and the answer to the following question:

Who shot Jeremy Roenick?

That proposal would kill Buffalo's budget.

Realistically, the Stars would need to offer:

A #1 defenseman (not a prospect--Buffalo's defense can't do without Myers. We'd need someone to immediately plug that hole)
A top 6 center (or prospect, but has to be a "can't miss" type guy)
A few draft picks to sweeten the deal.

And all for less than Myers's current 1.3M cap hit number, as Buffalo is already over their internal cap. Buffalo can't add salary.

Put together a proposal that meets all of those things, and we'll talk. But I don't think there's a single team that could put forth that kind of package for Myers at the requisite price tag.

Good point bolded. Has there ever been a defenseman with Myers' blend of size, speed, and raw offensive ability at the age of 19/20?

No, and the closest one (Chara) went for a song. How Mike Milbury even draw a paycheck related to the sport of hockey is truly one of life's great mysteries.

Franchise defenseman - especially ones with the rare combination of size, speed and two-way ability like Myers - come around once in a blue moon.

As such, and accounting for the Gretzky lesson we all learned, Myers is as close to an untouchable as there ever was IMO.

Ta,
I wouldn't say a song. Yashin was a 90 pt franchise center at the time.

It was 2nd overall, Chara, and something else (Muckalt?) for Yashin
