Will the Flyers ever Win the Cup Again?

The first thing I said after the Flyers lost that heart-breaking Game 6 OT game was that they won't be back next year. It seems like since I've been a Flyers fan they get so close but are never able to win it. Game 7 ECF versus the Lightning, the Devils comeback, and the Blackhawks series. Does anyone here think the Flyers will win again? Will it be next year, in this era, or beyond Mike Richard's tenure? In the end going into this season I feel like it's going to be another playoff year that ends in heartbreak due to injuries or goaltending. How confident are you that this Flyer's team will win a Cup?

Yes they will.

with leighton and boosh as goalies, i have no hope of it happening. with our defense you dont need a superstar in net...but you at least need someone competent.

This thread is about the Flyers EVER winning a cup, you come up with Leighton and Boucher.
Sorry, but that's stupid.

They have 3 years window to win SC not 5. Pronger and Timonen are getting old really old.

The last time the Flyers won the Cup, they had a multiple Vezina winner in net.

Food for thought.

With our crappy prospect pool, the trading of Gagne, our crappy cap situation, the Briere contract, and the aging of Pronger and Timonen I think our current windown is very, very short.

We have a great window for winning now, but the window isn't open for really long period of time. And time after that.. oh well.

Having a thread about the Flyers EVER winning a cup is just stupid.

There are only 30 teams in the league, and the Flyers are competitive just about every year.

So, if we're talking about the Flyers EVER winning again, of course it's going to happen. There's just no way of guessing when.

So, since talking about whether or not it's possible we'll EVER when is stupid, people are talking about right now. And honestly, I'm not expecting us to get as far as we did last year for awhile.

Canucks fan here.

Of course they will. Any franchise that is financially solid and has a good fan base more than likely will. Barring an absolute meltdown of some kind that involves the franchise moving, they will win it all again.

No they will never win a Stanley Cup again. The Flyers will go hundreds if not thousands of years without lifting the cup. I feel no need to use a sarcasm smiley because this is a ******** question to ask.

In all reality the talk of this "window" to win is way overblown. This is the NHL, not the NFL where teams win by building through the draft. Any team that is willing to spend up to the cap ceiling has a chanceto compete. Bad prospect pool or not there will always be good players for the Flyers to grab in FA.

When Lindros was 25 and a year removed from losing in the Stanley Cup Final I thought the same thing about him....

I'd like to think that, but it wouldn't be the first time - at all - that a talented player with heart and determination never got to lift it.

More deserving players than Richie have never won it.

Should we change this then? There are 9 teams that have gone at least 30 years without a Cup.
1. Which team will break the Rangers' record of 54 years without a Cup? The Hawks were on their way until ...
2. Will the Flyers become the first team to lose seven consecutive Final appearances? The 6-gamer with the Hawks tied the NHL record for teams losing six straight Final appearances. (Yeah, I know matchups and such, but what did the core of this team learn from 2010?)

your reading comprehension is lacking.

i very distinctly pointed out that they would not be winning one while leighton and boucher are the goalies. i don't see how that precludes them from EVER winning one.

try again.
