San Jose-Toronto

First official trade proposal thread. Anyway Toronto and San jose are pretty decent trading partners as Toronto has tons of decent defenceman, and San jose has some decent expendable forwards. So without farther ramblings:

To San Jose
Beauchimen
Sjostrom

To Toronto
McGinn
1st 2011

Fair trade?

Much rather have Clowe, but I think that's pretty fair for both teams. San Jose adds a top-4 defenseman and a really good PK without touching their top-6. Toronto gets a LW that could play on their second line and a 1 round pick that they might be able to package with something to get something that could help them now.

We lose our top pairing dman and our best penalty killer for a late first round pick and an underachiever.

I'm not trying to sound like nothing's good enough, but this really doesn't make ANY sense.

As with any SJ-Tor thread... it always devolves into Clowe vs. Beauchemin....

Leafs want Clowe without giving up NHL players, Sharks want Beauchemin without giving up NHL players. Whether they make the Clowe-Beauchemin swap... it's close from both sides, but at the end of the day neither do it. They're both too important to their existing teams.

Hes not underachieveing. hes been on our third line stuck behind Clowe, Setoguchi, heatley and marleau for top 6 winger spots. Our third line consisted of malhotra and Mitchell, neither of which are offensive minded at all. Im sure on the leafs playing top 6 minutes, 20 goals and 45 points wouldnt be outta the question

McGinn beens playing in the NHL for 2 years now, he is an NHL player.

McGinn isn't an underachiever. He has never gotten significant playing time and was still able to pot a double-digit goal total this last season. I don't want SJ to trade him. Beauchemin for Clowe, perhaps, which would bump McGinn up to 2nd line LW.

As for Sjostrom, no thanks.

Should read important NHL players. McGinn's a bottom-of-the-lineup player. The Leafs have enough of those.

As another poster mentioned, Sjostrom for McGinn is problably something the Leafs would do.

The kid is 22 with decent wheels and a great shot. He would easily be a top-6 forward on a mediocre Leafs forward group.

Of course the Leafs would. DW would laugh his ass off and hang up.

That's like saying Nikolai Kulemin is a top line forward. The Leafs need someone significantly better than Jamie McGinn for their final spot in the top 6. Theres no sense in trading an extremely valuable defenceman for a guy who should be on the 3rd line.

Francois Beauchemin. The guy who was 10th in TOI/G this past season. The guy who's going to be on the Leafs top pair with Dion Phaneuf this year.

Absolutely. On any team. They're not done... they're looking to add salary, not subtract.

Are you serious?

The reason he played so many minutes is because the Leafs defense sucked and Burke and Wilson love him.

He's not as good as you think he is pal.

I'm not a Toronto fan but Beachemin is certainly worth more than a late first. McGinn is a good prospect but is still in his low value stages.

I'd still rather work out something out that consists of Clowe for Beauchemin...

Beauch would look good in a Sharks Jersey, if you ask me.

Wow, a non-Leaf fan actually got our pairings right. Most Leaf fans can't.

And Huskins for Gunnarson is something the Sharks would do. What's your point?

McGinn is a decent 2nd line winger on most teams. He's just stuck behind Setoguchi and Clowe.

I like MgGinn, but Sjostrom is a pivotal part of our line-up in my eyes. He's our best PK man, has some great wheels, and is just an all around swiss-army-knife in our line-up. Beach is probably expendable for the right price, but that's definately not it.

Also, I could easily seeing us fitting D'Amigo or Mueller into any spot MgGinn could take up.

I've seen quite a few Sharks fans that are up for it. Makes me think something's there, as quite a few Leaf fans like it as well.

People have to leave Sjostrom alone, to us, he change the complexion of our PK, which was ranked 30th overall, but improved greatly after he came here, he's not worth anything to other teams though.

idk why Sharks fans insist on putting Sjostrom in every SJ-TOR trade.
