A little risky, but worth it imo.

Good news. A goal-starved team like the Predators needs a player like Hornqvist. Also, for a team with that kind of budget, they must really see something in him to give him that kind of money.

A bit hefty, but cheaper than bringing out a similar player for the outside. Still haven't seen the confidence he had in the SEL in the NHL. He can still improve.

Seems pretty reasonable for a top goal scorer on a playoff-caliber team. How much should a team pay a young winger capable of scoring 30 goals? Ryan is going to get way more than that...so, it's kind of a bargain from a Preds' perspective.

Might have been the difference in Round 1 last year if he wasn't hurt. Good player, and good for the Preds.

good job on the preds signing a very important player for their team, they needed a goal scorer and they definitely locked him up.

It's based on only one season though. Ryan has two 30+ goal seasons under his belt, not to mention the pedigree of being a second overall pick. I like Hornqvist's game and wouldn't be surprised if he earned this contract over the next several seasons, but I could just as easily see him dropping down to Holmstrom-type numbers over the long-term. Maybe I'm completely off-base?

also think it was a little high, but not by much probably. when compared to some of the hawk contracts that went out before bowman and others in the league, its do-able. here is to hoping he goes from 2 goals to 30 goals to 50+! one can hope anyway

A bit too much but not signing him wasn't an option. For sure a risky signing by Poile's standards though.

Ken holland needed to offer sheet him, its a shame that this signing went down...

Great signing. Absolute steal for what will be the swedish equivalent of drury on the wing. Easy 30-35G guy with 30-35A when he's developed

we should get Nashville some extra baskets because they seem to be placing all of their eggs into one.

I would call that fair for a 3 year deal.

Stats show that Moulson was the most productive Islanders' forward regardless of who he played with. And he rarely played on the 1st PP unit.

Huh?????? This may be the best example of a team that spreads the wealth on forward salaries and DOESN"T put all of the eggs into one... perhaps to a fault. Hornqvist, Legwand, Erat, Lombardi, Sullivan, Dumont are all mid-range salaries, mid-range producers. Then you have Wilson (ELC), Goc, Kostitsyn, Ward, as lower paid chip-in players.

Anyway, I think Hornqvist's goals go down this year-- the deflections even out-- but his presence in front of the net creates opportunities for other players. I would have preferred $2.5M but I assume he got an extra 500k for agreeing to stand in front of the net on the PP while Shea Weber bombs shots that have broken bones in-- what?-- three teammates? Hazardous duty pay. Like being in Iraq.

Not bad. If he continues his prodcution, than its a steal. Max I would give him is 2.6 per.
