I'm a HF Sponsor

How about you?

Come on, it's less than you pay for a movie, and much better value. How about a challenge to the other team boards-we get more sponsors than anyone else? We gotta beat Calgary at something! Here's the link.

Yeah, I paid up. I also plan on buying Flaming lunch, which means I'm down about $100 after I clear the liquor tab. :lol

What does it mean to be a sponsor? I went to get details but I had to sign in but I couldn't, etc..

Basically, you get stupid little frills like a signature, more P.M.s, as well as a couple of minor things.

The big thing is that you are supporting a site you regularly visit, for less than $1/month canadian, which is going to allow the "higher ups" to do things like improve the servers and that. Small price to pay really, and to be honest, I didn't even read the benefits to it...

I agree.

I paid up. This website is worth every penny and more. I'm happy to lend my support to the page that absorbs most of my day. My girlfriend would disagree, however.

I am all for volunteer subscriptions... I hate it when sites force you to pay for their services, but I am more than willing to chip in if the price is reasonable ($11 cdn for a year... can't get much better than that),for a volunteer/donation, and there is an obvious commitment to not only continuing the site, but making it better.

Hey, anything so the server isn't down on the following 2 days:

Deadline day

Draft day

I sponsored too.
I consider this as the cost to get the most updated and complete hockey news.

Exactly, dawgbone. I didn't read the benefits either, though I know I get to have a bigger avatar, as well as get more PM's and a signature.

Interestingly enough, when the servers go down, sponsor-people will still be able to get on. Actually, this wasn't a big benefit for me, as a moderator I was able to do it anyways - but still, it's worth the $8 US.

It ends up being about 1 dollar CND a month. Big frickin' deal.

I think the benefits are almost immaterial. Look at it as a way to pay back great posters like Guy Flaming and Lowetide. Look at it as a way to say thanks to our moderators, who do such a great job keeping these boards something to turn to every day. Look at it as a way to show everyone which team has the best supporters. Be a sponsor; it's the Oilers thing to do.

Just wanted to make it clear that I do not get paid for my contributions to HF. As far as I know, this is not changing with this new sponsorship program.

Bohologo's comment about "paying us back" was meant in a totally non-financial way when it comes to me. Your money doesn't go into my pocket.

Can somebody explain me how to activate it? I just went through paypall and paid and everything (like everybody I'm pleased and think it's the least I can do for such a quality site) but I don't know how to activate it on here.

Check your usercp, should be a selectable Sponsor Group that adds the star to your name.

oh, I thought I had to do something activate it or something - but perfect

I didn't do it for the star - I'm sure anybody who pays this small amount of well spent cash didn't do it for a star but to help out this great site (everybody else got to say something nice, I wasn't going to be left out )

I did it all for the nookie.

Oh yeah, and to give a little bit back to the community.

Now if the payoff truly IS me being able to get in here on draft day/trade deadline without it feeling like I'm trying to get into Studio 54 in the 70's...then it's the best 8 bucks I've ever spent.

That's correct-I apologize if I was unclear. At the same time, hands up if you think Guy should get paid for this!

I will speak in an unofficial means here, but the intent of the sponsorship program to my understanding is for site enhancement and not a profit gaining exercise, although I am sure the site owners wouldn't mind making a dollar or two from this enterprise.
