I'd say Caputi has a better chance to make the team then both Mueller or D'Amigo.

That's not a rumor.

And it's not on NHL's website because it's 2:34 IN THE MORNING.

Guys at TSN are probably sleeping. And as previously mentioned, Vancouver isn't making an official announcement until Gillis is back in town.

Seriously, dude, it happened.

You need to, you know, get the hell over it.

Signing with the Canucks for $1 million isn't a guarantee that Burke could have had him for the same price. It shows that the man wanted to come to a Cup contender.

And besides, he has never scored an NHL goal while playing for an Eastern conference team. That's bad mojo!

I wouldn't sweat about it. Torres is the kind of gritty, physical player with a history of jekyll/hyde play Vancouver needs to try on (like they did with Samuelsson), not Toronto.

The time he spends on the ice could be better lent to scoring on the Leafs. He might've been decent trade-deadline bait I guess, but even they've been slow for the past few years.

I still don't feel we needed Torres, so I didn't see the point in going after him.
HAHA!

YES! Very well put. Quite possibly by favourite Hfboards post ever. Sums up the absurdity of people's obsession with cheap contracts.

Who would you have? Mitchell at like 700+ k or Torres at 1?

Good deal for the Nucks. They are the team to beat in the west.

I'd rather have Torres at $1M.

But I certainly don't want Mitchell and Torres at $1.7M.

Redundant, no?

Yes. Mitchell didn't receive a qualifying offer. They should him let him walked and signed Torres. Or heck, don't even acquire Brown. Torres would just cost 500 K more and is a better player.

Nah.... I like Brown.

And how can you possibly say that if we let Mitchell walk, Torres would have signed here?

I mean, he signed a small contract to go to a contender. Chances are, we would have had to pay Torres more to lure him to our shipwreck.

Seriously, there's so many intangibles to your ideas that it becomes impossible to argue.

I would rather Torres, but Mitchell isn't going anywhere... so why sign almost the same player but older, even if it is for a better deal. Pretty redundant.

He wanted to come here and he said so and seriously why even bother signing Mitchell? I would rather give Torres 1.5 or even toss 1.8 at Belanger. Mitchell doesn't do **** on the 3rd line or 4th line. He is not a checker and not skilled enough to be on the top 2 lines.

BTW, we could have done this on July 1st. Who knows if Vancouver was even pursuing Torres at that time...

How are they same players? And like I said, Mitchell was not qualified and Burke should have let him walked and pursued guys like Torres and Belanger.

Not to mention we wasted cap space on Lebda. Tell me, who signs 7th defense men for 1.45 when you already have Finger at 3.5 who we are not even sure if he is going to the minors.

Some of you don't seem to realize that Free Agents have a CHOICE of where they sign..

Being a nucks fan, I hate Burke as much as the next guy for basically killing our prospect depth and bringing in alot of redundancy, (Minus Kesler/the Sedins), but if Torres wanted to sign somewhere else, there's nothing Burkie can do about that.
