La / Edm

Brad Richardson +3rd

for

Andrew Cogliano

I think Cogliano would prosper with a change of scenery and out of the edmonton spotlight. It gives LA a bit more speed up front.

Value wise I think we win quite noticably. That said, given where we are at, I'd rather keep Richardson. I think he can play in so many roles, from second line centre to fourth line and on the PK and just fits in well with what we have that I don't see the need to do this deal.

I'm sure Oilers fans will say no too, and rightfully so. If Cogs can turn it around, they'll have the better player.

If Cogs is going to LA, we'd be looking for a dman in return, i.e. Teubert.

I have a feeling that Cogliano will be asking for a lot more money than the $900K that Richardson is being paid. He is the better player, but I'd rather hang on to Richardson at that salary and see what he can do. He put up similar numbers to Cogs last year despite not scoring in his first 25 games or whatever it was.

Sure it was an off season for Cogs and he will likely do much better, but for the $$$ I would much rather see if Richardson can build off the success he enjoyed in the last half of the season.

Not a chance. Cogs has to do more than regress before being traded for a guy like Teubert.

I don't want the Oilers to trade Cogliano at this point because his Value is absolutely low.

I'll wait till Teubert can stop playing in the ECHL. It is Teubert who has regressed to an ECHLer at this point. La needs to add Teubert+ for Cogs.

Teubert played in the ECHL after his season was over because Manchester was in the AHL playoffs and there just wasn't room for him.

Quickest way to lose your money on stockmarket is to buy high and sell low. Quickest way to destroy your hockey team is trade your players when they are at their lowest value, and for Cogliano that is now. The smart move for Oil brass is let him try and redeem himself then trade him, Oil have nothing to lose but much to gain by being paitent with all young players right now.

How does someone regress when he starts his pro career at a low point and will be working his way up the depth charts? Manchester was filled with dmen and were in the playoffs, there was no way Teubert was getting thrown in there at that point in time.

Value seems cool, but Richardson is our utility man. Can fill in any position on any line and is 1 of the best pk's on the team

He wasn't good enough for an AHL team, Cogs is an established NHL veteran at the age of 23 years.

Cogliano is a good player, but I think his confidence was shattered last summer after almost being traded for Heatley. He didn't play well on Edmonton's top six and was eventually relegated to their bottom six and had to play with guys like Moreau.

However, He finished the season on a good streak - something like 16 points in 18 games.

I think he needs another year to rebuild his confidence and his value.

He was 20 years old and playing injured.

Yeah, his career is over. He should just toss the skates in the closet and start selling shoes now right?

How's your reading comprehension? I said there were plenty of dmen who played well throughout the season and Manchester didn't want to throw in Teubert, who just finished his season, right in the playoffs.

Disagree.. His value was absolutely low the first 64 games when he was playing with the scrubs like POS and Moreau.

14 points in the first 64 games played
14 points in the last 18 games played (Penner-Cogliano-Brule)

The issue with him is that he was getting minimal special teams + top 6 minutes. With Hall, Eberle and possibly Pajaarvi joining in he'll get even less minutes and will get pushed down to the 4th line unless Penner-Brule-Cogliano line is kept together from last year.

I think the Oilers have their own utility man in Gilbert Brule.

if I am trading assets like Richardson or Teubert I would rather get a winger with size like Eager from Atlanta to help protect the young talent instead of adding a smallish guy like Cogs.

I'd put him on the "2nd line" LW.
