not sure but...

it appears they passed on Korovkin. There were rumors late in the season or during the playoffs that they signed Ruggeri but I never saw that confirmed. If not he was also lost, which would surprise me because they seemed high on him in preseason. If NCAA players who have no more eligibility have to be signed by June 1st then Shields was lost.

Korovkin, Ruggeri, Shields, and Eichelberger would have to be signed to retain their rights. Not sure on the dates though (June 1 for CHL I think but what about college?). I'd expect they signed all save Eichelberger, who will probably be signing with a beer league team. But these press releases always come late in the off-season.

I talked to the Tri-City Americans and they said if Korovkin signed, they would know about it by now.

That just shocks me to no end - Wood, Meyer, Skolney over Korovkin???

On a side note: Is there a worse NHL site than the Flyers?? No news of real value, dismal prospect notes, and no word on things like these potentially important contracts. Terrible, and I have emailed them to say so with no response - not even hey we are working on some of those upgrades.

10th on HF. It would be pathetic if he wasn't signed, I have read a bunch of reports and all indicate that he will be an NHLer and a good one.

Shields doesn't have to be signed till next year or he will be a FA. The deadline yesterday was only for CHL players. I've tried to find out if Ruggeri was signed, but nothing saying yes or no. I would think he'd be signed, he had a good year.

Even though he only played 3 years of college hockey, he was a senior last year. He was forced to sit out his freshman season for academic problems.

Essentially he'll be a free agent, unless Philadelphia sign him before August. He'll have plenty of offers to play in Europe, the German League would be favourite to get him.

I posted this a week or so ago.

http://www.phantomshockey.com/press...estory/1049.asp

Stevens named winger Ben Eager and defenseman Rosario Ruggeri as likely additions to a returning core that will include Meyer, Randy Jones and Nick Deschenes. Along with Stafford, Boyd Kane and Wade Skolney are slated to return to Philadelphia, among others.

Looks like Ruggeri was signed.

Could it be that he wanted more money then Flyers wanted to pay him and that's why Flyers didn't sign him? I am not saying Flyers didn't sign... It's just a question...
