Serious question: who's using ESPN as their primary source for hockey information? As moronic as the ESPN staff is with Melrose, Burnside, etc., I'd be more concerned about the people who go to them first for hockey info.

Well, that's their fault for not paying attention. Burke was brought back in case Esche fell apart, which almost did happen, but I don't think people here thought Esche was truly in danger of losing his spot. Although, we had just traded a 1st and then what was at the time one of out top prospects Jeff Woywitka to get Comrie and then was dealt like 2 months later. They brought in Burke just in case, but they wanted Esche to be the guy.

People who don't take hockey serious enough to know the difference.

Grabner went to the Islanders, so even if we wanted him we wouldn't have gotten him.

RT @TSNBobMcKenzie: I believe VAN has traded O'Brien to NAS for Ryan Parent. Vancouver has Ryan Parent on waivers today.

Clearly trading Parent for Hamhuis and then getting a 3rd round pick for Hamhuis was a good move by Holmgren.

Wow has Parent fell alot.. I remember some had him as a top 4 d-man just last year.

What if we picked him up off waivers

TSNBobMcKenzie VAN-NAS trade is O'Brian and Dan Gendur for Parent and another player not off the NHL roster.
2 minutes ago via web

edit: Jonas Andersson goes to Vancouver with Parent.

clearly a Cup deciding trade

Well, given that he'd been playing on Timonen's pairing for a good bit of the previous year, not that much of a stretch...

Dude just never could remain healthy, and it's completely *ed his development, and I'd wager the injuries factor into his perceived trade value on top of that.

Vancouver is a ****ty place to go just cuz of their cap situation.

And he's on a one-way contract for the next two years, so there's a chance that he's going to be buried in the minors.

Don't understand the trade itself though. O'Brien was already waived and in the minors for only the rest of this season.

O'Brien had some off-ice, discipline issues last season. Vigneault wasn't particularly pleased with him around the team, so better to move him than keep him within the organization... from a Vancouver management perspective. If he's trouble with the big club, you don't want him influencing the young kids on the farm.

Parent's cheap... and maybe gets picked up on his way through waivers, anyway.

I haven't checked either FLA's or NYI's boards, but now I have to.

Bucci picks us to win the cup a lot. I'm pretty sure he is a Flyers fan, though I've never seen it confirmed nor have I researched it.

Oddly enough, last year was the first time I'd ever picked the Flyers to make the Stanley Cup finals. And I honestly picked the Blackhawks too. I did this before the season started to, so

Buccigross is a Bruins fan, and doesn't keep it a secret.

Well, huh, I did not know that. For some reason though, every time I've read his predictions, he has the Flyers up there and he has rarely picked the Bruins.

Other Bruins fans never pick their own team either. Meander around that board for a while. And you think people get uppity here?

Dainus Zubrus on waivers. If he didnt cost 3.4 mil, I'd say if we dropped to us we looked into it. HIGHLY doubt we do though.

if we didnt have so many D men, he would be a good 3rd line C

1. Apparently Zubrus isn't on waivers after all. There are some conflicting reports.
2. Zubrus' cap hit is 3.4 Million. We wouldn't be able to afford it.
3. If he gets claimed, probably by a team that is in the Waiver pecking order ahead of us. Most of them also have more cap space than we do.
4. We got already got like 6 players that could fill that role, to the point where we're not sure how to assemble lines because of the large amount of centers we do have. Another center is not what the Flyers need. We could use another right wing though, which is a role he could fill if we actually had any cap space and he'd actually made it to the point we could pick him up.

Though he was raised in either western PA or Ohio (I forget), his mother and father are both from Boston and that is the origin of his support for the Bruins. When he did NHL 2Nite, his tongue-in-cheek response was "I like all 30 teams equally" whenever the subject was broached.

I meant he would be an actual gritty 3rd line C. I know we dont have the cap space, or the roster space.
