The first one might be worth it if it's a limited keeper league (like the Flyers board keeper league is).

The second one depends on how healthy Markov becomes and how good Del Zotto becomes. Kind of a coin-flip of a trade there. If you're looking to win now take the trade, but if you're looking for long-term success just keep Del Zotto.

I was just about to post that. Wis is now one of my favorite players.

What's hilarious is that, not only did they keep the camera on him so long, but they replayed it too.

Unless you really think you'll win it all this year, I'd definitely do that trade. Just replace Getzlaf and Nash in your keepers list with Crosby and Eriksson and you'll be good to go and looking in better shape then you are right now (for next year).

The Devils are going to ice 15 skaters tonight. Yes, you read that right.

Because of the whole cap situation they're automatically down 1 person. Since Leblond got suspended that's one less skater (down to 17 now). Volchenkov is out because of taking a slapshot to the face last game (should be back soon though) and Rolston is hurt. So they're rolling out three forward lines with no extra man and six d-men. Also, because Volchenkov is out, their defense is going to look like this tonight (with no extra man mind you):

White-Tao
Tallinder-Urbom
Greene-Fraser

That's ****ing terrible. There's not one top pairing d-man in that group, Fraser isn't even NHL caliber, and a third of them are rookies.

I'll be disappointed of anything short of a massacre tonight by Pittsburgh.

lol. What happened so far? BJ Crombeen getting a shorty is never a good sign.

The Ducks kind of fell apart as soon as they traded Pronger. With Pronger and Niedermayer both gone (and Wisniewski too), their defense is among the worst in the league and their offensive depth beyond the big three (Getzlaf, Perry, Ryan) is pretty mediocre.

The Blues look like a pretty tough team this year though.

RT @wyshynski: The #Devils have gone from rolling four lines to win championships to a franchise that can only afford three.

Beat you to the punch.

Anyways, Devils fans keep playing off the fact that their GM is avoiding handling the cap situation as if it's nothing, but it's obviously a problem if it's forcing them to play with 15 ****ing skaters. I don't care how slight a disadvantage you think that is, it's still a disadvantage and it could easily be avoided if Lou would just handle the cap situation now.

Am I the only one that doesn't see NJ as contenders either? Ignoring the fact that I think Brodeur is an average starter in the league at this point (far from top five in my eyes), their defense is utterly atrocious when compared to most other contenders and without Volchenkov it's laughably bad.

I have Jonas Hiller as one of my goalies on my fantasy team (the other is Gustavsson). Would you drop Hiller in favor of Bernier? I originally drafted Bernier, but someone informed me that in fantasy hockey or at least this version you want goalies who play a lot. Bernier may just play 20-30 games this year since it his first year, though I know people have said he may tack over for Quick, but is it realistic that he'd play over 40?

Hiller has a GAA of 6.69, and a save percentage of .82 in 2 games. He's allowed 12 goals in 3 games. In defense of Hiller though I haven't watched the games (I have the Blues-Duck game on but not really watching) he saw 40+ shots in his first two games, and 34 shots in 35 minutes in today's game.

Hiller isn't a bad goalie. It's just a case of a good goalie playing behind an atrocious team (that defense has fallen apart ever since Pronger left). Kind of the opposite of what the Flyers were last year with Leighton.

I don't know what kind of league it is so I can't say whether that's a good idea or not, but dropping Hiller for Bernier wouldn't be a good idea, especially if number of starts is a big factor. Bernier and Quick are both pretty good goalies and it's doubtful that Bernier plays any more then 40 games.

If I were you I'd actually drop Gustavsson for Bernier. Bernier plays in front of the better team and Gustavsson is a backup this year (which is screwing over some of my fantasy teams).

They have 8 shots through two periods.

The Crombeen goal was the perfect example of a team that doesn't give a ****.

They look like a peewee team on the ice right now. Full credit to the Blues, though, who are playing very well... and have five minutes left of a seven minute powerplay to start the third.

Thanks. Oh I didn't know Gustavsson was the backup this year. I also figured that since the Leafs seem to have a decent defense he would put up decent numbers regardless of their number of wins.

Both goalies can play at once, so apparently if you have good goalies it is good to have two goalies that play a lot, otherwise you waste the available number of starts you have.

Holy ****. I actually really want to watch this game just for the lols now. I mean, that's really bad.

However, I have Getzlaf on a team that I was hoping would contend so this actually isn't good new for me. I know you have Selanne in the Flyers keeper league too so this probably isn't good for you either. =P

If the Ducks keep playing like this they're probably a lottery team.

Yeah, it's like that with most fantasy leagues.

I found out about Gustavsson being a backup because I asked the Leafs board as soon as I saw that Giguere was starting the opening game for them. Giguere has done well so far so I wouldn't bank on Gustavsson being the starter again. Which really pisses me off because I was relying on Gustavsson in two different leagues for starts.

I think the Devils will be what they have been. They'll have a nice regular season, get into the playoffs somewhat comfortably and then be one and done.

The Devils have a really tough schedule for the rest of October. They could potentially go into November without a win, especially if their cap problems aren't addressed.

lol.
You do realize John Stevens is no longer the coach right?
maybe its we just have a coach who realizes what Carcillo is. a interchangable 4th line winger who would not be missed if he was traded.

So yeah, Penguins finally win one. It was bound to happen eventually and the devils aren't looking too good either. The good thing though: Malkin and Crosby still only have a combined 2 points through 3 games, with the two points coming from the same PP goal.

Also, Grabner played his first game for the Isles, 0 points, 1 shot, +/-0 in 13 minutes and a few seconds.

Apparently Hjalmarsson put Pominville on a stretcher. That comes a few days after elbowed Ruslan Salei of the Red Wings in the face. Stay classy Chicago...
