Another 2004 draftee whose favorite team is the Oilers

We heard how Drew Stafford said his favorite team is the Oilers, and his favorite player is Smyth.

Goaltender Michal Valent said his favorite NHL team is the Oilers. Cool.

Valent's stock has risen quite a bit in the last month or two, especially following his excellent performance at the Under 18s. He is the third ranked European goaltender by CSS. Red Line says he could be a 3rd rounder, for whatever that's worth.

EDIT: I'm one of the best spellers I know, and yet things like this happen.

The Draft is done all wrong..... players should have instantly become the rights of their favorite team

He was great at the Viking Cup too, I saw Slovakia play against Switzerland and Camrose and he was stellar both games. The Swiss game went 7 periods including 3.5 OT!

Yeah, it must be weird for a guy like Iginla who grew up cheering for the Oilers and hating Calgary. But hey, two games away from winning the Stanley Cup will probably cure that.

that should be standard questioning in the interviews with the prospects:

Prendergast:

"Uh... What's your favourite hockey team and who's your favorite player?"

Unnamed Prospect:

"I like the Phoenix Coyotes and my favorite player is Mike Comrie."

*Kevin scribbles into his notebook*

Prendergast:

"Have a nice day!"

Unnamed Prospect:

"What? But that was the first question!"

That would be pretty dumb. If it worked that way, Ales Hemsky would be a Toronto Maple Leaf, not an Oiler.

Yeah no kidding. It would have worked out great this year. Chipchura is solid.

Solid? If somebody gets Stafford and Chipchura in this draft they'll have probably done better with their first two picks then anybody else.

I'd rather have Iginla.
