Markstrom was supposedly looking much better than he had in the prospect games which is always good. And speaking of the edgy Olesz! He set up Reinprecht for his goal and was even on a breakaway that ended up being kicked away by Markstrom. Anything else? Oh and Booth was apparently not showing any side effects from his concussion which was definitely possible and apparently he is in great condition! Just a few updates for some of you guys, nothing much.
Ya mean FIALKOV?

Not IMO. I watched several games of Kingston's during the season periodically because I wanted to watch how Gudbranson was doing, and Doherty was always impressive. He gets way too much flack. Why, idk. He's going to be a solid NHL d-man.

Which junior eligible rooks are still at camp? Gudbranson and Howden are the only ones that come to mind.

What about Timmins? Can't remember if he's still in or not.
If not, Guds, Marky and Howden are the only ones.

You're right, I forgot about Timmins. As far as Markstrom, he isn't junior eligible and will be assigned to Roch.

Wasn't Timmins an overager last year? He should be AHL bound this year.

does anyone think the attitude seems a bit different this year? sounds like they're actually tired of losing.

I think its a few factors:
#1- A GM with a solid multi-year game plan who is respected by the players and can speak proper English.
#2 More than enough hard working bodies with something to prove brought-in in the off season to create a very competitive atmosphere.
#3 A very good draft combined with talent in the system who are told they have a chance to make the team if they earn it, which creates more competition.

Why couldn't this have happened sooner?
But yeah, I know the "vets" are definitely tired of losing. As are all us fans..........

Yea I noticed that too. Last year it was a bunch of BS of how PDB and Sexton were "comfortable" with the roster. They weren't pumped or anything, they were "comfortable".

Yeah I noticed it too. I just hope this mentality keeps up. Sounds like a very energetic camp so far. Good sign.

That was quick. Did these guys take part in any sort of on-ice scrimmages at the main camp, or were they sent back pretty much right away?

They've had two scrimmages so far.

McFarland looked really good but there was no chance in hell of him cracking the ridiculously deep bottom six this year. Plus he needs to dominate in the CHL first.

Plus we want him in the top 6. Let him build his confidence and hone his skill.

Thats the thing, I don't think we get last place. But we do have some assets to trade!

i attended about a dozen Fronts games last year.
he doesn't have the smarts to be an NHLer.

- routinely takes bad penalties.
- misses assignments.
- poor passing, especially first passes out of the zone.
- unrelated to smarts, he's also a pretty poor skater.

he's got size, is physical and has a hard (not accurate shot), but that's about it...

The season hasn't even started yet. I don't want last place until I see we're a non-contender by the trade deadline. I want a playoff team.

What's your assessment of Gudbranson and if possible Durocher? (i.e. looking for bottom/top-end potential)
