Probably a 1-way with Syracuse. Good for him.

Reported one way deal with Syracuse with an invitation to camp for a pro tryout. This will increase the competition at camp. Likely, Joe will eventually mentor the little guys.
Makes sense, especially in a season where nothing makes sense.

It's really great to see him still finding a place to play, especially when it's tied to the organization. Syracuse just signed a stanley cup winner to the team.

Always loved Joey D, and the fact that he upstaged Crosby and was the first to bring the cup to Cole Harbour, NS. Anyway, great to see him back in the organization, great move for Syracuse.

Excellent!

Joe DiPenta is a decent player, but an amazing person, can never hurt to have a guy like that around.

Good to have Crazy Legs back in the organization. What a nice guy.

Do you guys remember when Dippy went on that breakaway when he came out of the penalty box? That was so funny.

ALSO, that goal he scored against the Yotes... the one bounced off like two different people into the net. I believe it was the GWG too.

Limited though he may be, can anybody make a convincing case that Joe DiPenta is any worse of a defenseman than Steve Eminger? Does one really deserve to be in the NHL more than the other?

I still remember that. Joe's legs were churning like crazy but a forward that wasn't even in the picture easily caught up to him. But boy it looked like he was going crazy fast, until you actually had another player in the frame .

If the pro tryout doesnt work out for him does that mean that he cant be called up to the Dux? What does a 1 way contract mean in the AHL?

I think it means that he gets paid the same, even if he's sent down to the ECHL(doubtful). And if the tryout doesn't work, no, the Ducks would have to sign him first before calling him up.

Ha! I remember that, he looked like he was going to go straight through Nabokov and the boards. How I wish that was put up on youtube.

Crazy Legs is not afraid to stand up for his teammates, which would serve well in Syracuse. Personally I wouldn't have minded him as our seventh d-man last year, the way things went. Good to see him back in the organization, even as a fringe player he's well liked by the fans.

Good article about Di Penta signing, interesting read.

Quote:
One interesting twist: The Ducks pitched DiPenta a two-way deal at the start of free agency. DiPenta, on the advice of his agent, said no because he wanted to see what other offers came his way. None did, so he was left to take the AHL deal Anaheim later offered him.

"That's just the way the business side of it goes. It didn't really work out as well as I hoped it would,'' he said of free agency. "Now, here we are. It's just one of those things that happens. Sometimes it works out in your favor, sometimes it doesn't. I'm fine with it. I'm not discouraged by any means. I'm the one who made the decision. If I go out and play well and they want to make room for me in the NHL, that will happen.''
