I'm curious...if there's actually some cats who play, or just a bunch of bedroom blueliners...

I play year round in the New England Senior Hockey League here in the Boston area. I've been playing with the same team and the same group of guys for eight years. If you click on our league web site below, you will see a picture of my team, the Anarchy, after its recent championship. Believe me, it beats wasting one's life on golf.

Beer league, "recreational" teams, but not in a couple years. Defense mostly but the occassional turn on the off-wing.

Granted, I don't understand what the relivence of what people have or haven't played or at what level....

Beer Leagues!

In all honesty, I have way more fun in these leagues than I did when I played in HS.

I'll never stop playing.

I've played goalie since I was 6.

Played triple A and then one season in Junior A, but that sucked because it means you can't play high-school hockey which was the best hockey I've ever played. I coach now and play in beer leagues.

Highschool Hockey, at least around here is like the ECHL. Guys run around trying to basically kill each other.

It was damn fun, but nobody left the rink after a game without being beaten to hell.

Maybe where you're from, I suppose.

I live outside of Toronto in Mississauga, and the level of hockey here is extremely high. High school hockey basically ensured the best players from every school and no teams had any weaknesses. No two line pass either, so alot of chances both ways. As a goalie, I loved it. Also, the tension is extremely high as well because you know the people you're playing and pride is on the line.

Same. I had stop for a few years, but 3 years go I join a recreational ligue. The level is quite good and it's pretty funny. I'm now asking myself how i have managed to not play for a few years!!! I enjoyed it too much to even think about missing a year until like Wally the knees stop to follow, I think i'm fined for another 20 years, knock on wood.

Beer Leagues for me now, Junior when I was younger. It's funny, I seem to take the game so much more seriously now as opposed to when it really mattered in junior. The Beer League games are now the highlight of my week!

Played high school, then intermural in college. Now it's beer league one night a week, Sr. rec league one night a week, and 2 rentals with friends a week. Still make it outdoors to play on the frozen rinks a couple of times a year, but the weather the past few years has been either 29 above, which is too warm for good ice, or 20 below, which is too cold for me (with the 20 mph wind that always goes with it).
I've slowed considerably the past 3 or 4 years, so I'm on defense now...oh well!

Exactly. I find when you're in competative hockey, especially when you're a young teenager (I'm not), the leagues are filled with a bunch of egos, little punk kids who think they're the next Gretzky. They only pass to certain people on the team, lose their temper when things don't go their way, etc. I noticed that years ago so now I play for fun, and I enjoy the game a million times more.

I play. RW. Saturdays and Wednesdays all winter. No summer leagues this season. I am a hockey dad also, and I know quite a few scouts in town here.
