Sharks history: Best RW poll

http://sharks.nhl.com/club/news.htm?id=536623

Sharks are starting a series of articles looking for the best players in team history.

First up: Right Wings.

Possible selections: Nolan, Cheechoo, Selanne, Makarov

(You have to have played for the team 2+ years in that position to be considered, which is why Heatley is not included.)

How about it being due to the fact that he plays LW!!!!!! Hmmmmmm In my opinion I think it's either Nolan or Cheechoo.

The order they put it on the website seems pretty good.

Not sure what he is. Sharks site lists him as a RW, but NHLPA lists him as a LW.

He is a LW. He always played left wing on the pizza line.

That line would score ****-load of goals every game and the crowd would get free pizza. You oughtta know the nickname of the best line since lockout.

It was similar to the Sharks Pizza deal this year, but a lot more frequent.

Haha oh i see I was trying to get some sort of pizza pun from their last names and was failing miserably, that explains a lot. thanks. Honestly the only sorta-recent-line nick names I have heard are our burger line and the devil's ZZ Pops.

Is it wrong that I read RW as Ron Wilson?

Meh - I still think of Heatley as a RW

Heatley can play both wings. Marleau plays LW on Thornton's line, so when the burger line's intact, Heater's RW.

I guess I get to be captain obvious. Heatley played RW on the Burger line most of last year. He played LW on the Pizza line.

edit: Villertti beat me to it.

Cheechoo has to get my vote until some one tops 56 goals. I don't care if it was because Thornton passed it to him.

In the moment - Cheechoo
Over their entire career - Selanne, then Makarov
Fan Favorite - Nolan, then Cheechoo

Cheechoo is still my fan favorite. Nolan is somewhere down there.

Nolan probably had the biggest impact on the Sharks, but I voted Makarov. Even versus Selanne I think Sergei was more talented (also gotta throw some old skool love).

This HAS to be Nolan. I don't care if Cheechoo had more goals or Makarov was more skilled or Selanne had a better career, no one had as much impact as Nolan.

It's not a poll, it's a quiz... The answer is Nolan.

(Heatley has never played LW on the Sharks. I don't even think he's skated on the left side of the ice, in teal.)

I believe Setoguchi is the only Sharks winger from last season that didn't play both wings. For this year I don't know about Mayers, Macintyre, or McLaren.

Heatley, Marleau, Clowe, McGinn, Ortmeyer, and Mitchell all spent time on both the left and right. Also, I think Manny was more comfortable on the left, because whenever he and McGinn flanked a center (Couture, Nichol) it seemed that McGinn, who was drafted as a LW, was pushed to the right. Having so many multiple position players is a huge asset, because if there is an opportunity to get a strictly RW he can play with any combination except one involving Seto.
