Dunno why we'd want Lupul there... he seems to be damaged goods? Hamrlik is very useful to the Habs for now, and his large cap hit goes away soon, so he's a better asset for the Habs than Lupul would be.

I really like Lupul, but he is hurt and I believe might miss some time early on in the season. But the habs have no interest in that, I much rather see what A.Kost does this year, and either resign him or trade him at the end of the year.

Why do people always put Weber in trade proposals? Because he had a tough time last season in the AHL after a record breaking season in 08-09?

I know the guy has had difficulty adjusting to a new reality (mainly being surpassed by Subban in every way possible) but I still see him as a future Hab. Not as complete or elite as Subban, but they're both right handed and Weber has a great shot and PK has great passing skills : to me, this pair is the future of our power play.

As for the trade proposal, I know we need size and that Hamrlik is overpaid, but I prefer letting him play out his contract then taking a gamble on an injured player who still has three seasons left on a 4.25 cap hit.

Lupul is probably out unti Nov/Dec. The Ducks can't afford to trade him, even injured, until the Bobby Ryan Circus comes to a conclusion.

Here I am reading my own thoughts, how the heck did you get into my brain!

On a serious note, a potential PP pairing of Weber & Subban might be exactly what the doctor ordered. I haven't seen Markov playing with a right-handed point shot for a very long while (Rivet?? but boy was he bad!). I'm not entirely sure Markov is that comfortable feeding a right-handed one-timer. And quite honestly, I don't think it's the best fit from a hockey physics perspective. Having Weber & PK on the point simply reverses the point plays, the shot coming from the left point instead of the right.

Habs would then only need another good left-handed point shot for Markov's wave and that would make two lethal PP waves, potentially the deepest in the entire League.

Conclusion: Let's see how Weber pans out in the next year or two before including him in packages for spare parts.

Lupul is done for at least the start of the year, if not longer.
