Souray hates the Oilers...the Oilers hate Souray. They supposedly don't want his negative attitude towards the organization effecting the prospects...or something.

Hershey wins!

Article in Swedish with a rough English translation on Anton Gustafsson's situation.

LINK HERE

And the original article in Swedish.

LINK HERE

Does it sound like the agent thinks Gustafsson will report to South Carolina?
Is there anyone that can speak Swedish?

google translate joys...it sounds to me like he plans to report to SC, but wait and see... someone mentioned they saw another Swedish entry on him today that sounded similar, so I tracked this down, probably based off the same comments...

For those interested, Leone did a chat this afternoon....addresses a lot of topics...Gustafsson, Bourque, etc. It is worth reading/skimming, IMO. link

Also Patrick Williams who covers the AHL posted his AHL pre-season rankings over at The Hockey News - link

A lot of fans of a lot of teams feel that way; the ones making the money spending decisions don't from everything I've read and heard. FWIW, Hershey plays 4 Western Conference teams in 2010-11 (Manitoba, Lake Erie, Toronto and Rochester, and yes Toronto and Rochester are in the W.C.,) which based on the scheduled I've looked at is more than appear on a lot of Eastern Division teams schedules.

Yeah, I know all the background on the situation. Sadly, Hershey seems to be one of the few willing team and see how far that goes. I had some hope in that the Stars would be willing to play Hershey like Manitoba was after the great finals series and Hershey could stretch it into a Texas trip like they did two years ago.

Atlantic teams piss me off to a degree because they ***** about traveling to Hershey. They need to look at what the West division does just to play within their division. AHL needs to take a page out of the ECHL and demand some degree of inter-conference play.

Yes I do understand how well of in the money department Hershey is compared to the majority of the league.

Dan S Hershey article with quotes from Beagle and AGordon about being cut and returning to Hershey.

Also, Bears website looks to be updated...it's about time.

This is just odd to look at...http://www.hersheybears.com/team/index.php #7 last season...Alzner...this season...Souray

That new site sucks. Looks good...but is poorly constructed.

For one...when you click on a player on the roster...if you hit back...it takes you off the roster page completely and back to home. Terribly coded php.

Anyways.

Haven't finished looking around, but yes, encountered some issues, too. The old site was absolutely terrible so at least there are some improvements. Not sure why they are so far behind in terms of the website stuff, it's weird.

Rumor has it that the only reason the Bears have fallen in love with Manitoba is that the Moose will partially finance visiting teams. I'm not sure how much there is to that, but as we've played there 5 of the last 6 years, it's either that, or someone in the Bears FO has family in Manitoba.

The Idaho Steelheads of the ECHL play a grand total of 7 opponents. They play eleven 3-game series, and at one point, they play Stockton 5 straight times.

Wouldn't surprise me if Manitoba does. The Heat have the city of Abbotsford pay for transportation.

Hmm, maybe I was wrong about ECHL having something on the books about East-West thing. Although 7 teams is almost half the whole league.

Joudrey named Hershey captain! (source: Leone)

Congrats to him, good choice

A bit surprising one given other players on the roster including several players who have worn the C for Hershey in the past.

Also, timleone
"Souray practiced with Bears and held press conference. Coming with an excellent attitude. Basically ruled himself out for the weekend, tho."

Awesome! I figured he would have an A and Kane get the C but I have no issues.

Which is kind of a surprise considering Harrisburg for whatever reason has an abnormally large amount of high quality agencies. Hershey's own shop isn't that bad either, although I think they're starting to farm out more stuff.

Leone's Friday practice update including Souray news

Quite the line-up on paper with the forward depth on this team to go along with the veteran D. Nice to see Miskovic getting paired with an AHL vet.

Lines:
Greentree-Aucoin-Gordon
Bouchard-Perreault-Willsie
Joudrey-Beagle-Pinizzotto
Rome-Bruess-Kugryshev
G. McNeill-Rechlicz

D-pairs:
Nycholat-Miskovic
Wellar-Fahey
Kroll-Collins
Finley-Cullity
(Souray-Cullity/Finley/Collins)

Holtby/Ford (with Sabourin still with the Caps)

injuries: Kane groin; PMcNeill recovering from shoulder surgery

Hershey plays 2 road games this weekend to open the season.

Saturday at WBS at 7
Sunday at Rochester at 5

Good to hear Gustafsson is reporting.

OT: Mink with a hat trick for Peoria (and coach Bednar), but Manitoba wins 4-3; SDR with an assist (his first AHL point) on Mink's first goal

OTOT: Oops missed this earlier, but Arsene was named Peoria's captain.
