I wish they would release the camp rosters. By now, they should at least know who they're inviting to the rookie camp, both from within the organization and as FAs.
anybody else think it is strange how short training camp really is? its nice they are skating this week, but it makes sense that teams have slow starts when looking at this. maybe its just me
Was always a fan of Matt Halischuk since we drafted him. Though I'm happy we brought Arnie back It was sad to see Matt go.
Do you guys think he can make Nashville and play in the NHL on a consistent basis ?
I'd love to be able to track the kid throughout the season.
He's in a group of guys that have a good shot to make the team, or at least see some callup time, along with Lundmark, Klasen,Thuresson, Spaling, Geoffrion, and O'Reilly. I think a guy like Jonas Andersson should also be in that group, but due to his one-way contract, he'll almost certainly be on the team--although who knows, since Sulzer wasn't last year.

I haven't heard of anyone yet and honestly wouldn't be surprised if these two guys out of juniors were the only two invitees. There simply isn't any room on the roster...

True but the fact is there is so many players out there which can play NHL minutes.
Why not go overboard?
Also I was curious about a certain rogaine lovin goalie.

Poile reiterated today on XM that the plan is to fill the backup spot from within. When he was off, they basically said, "Wow, hope Rinne doesn't get hurt or go cold..."

It's a big risk, the defense is very young, and you would rely on Rinne to be healthy.
This is what Poile said about the backup goalie situation in an interview on 104.5 after the Hörnqvist signing a couple of weeks ago:
Believe we have some really good, unproven goaltenders. We’re taking a bit of a risk to give these guys a chance at training camp to see if they can do it. We have had terrific reports on Lindbäck. Impressed with him last season in Sweden, impressed with him at development camp, and the reports from his preparation for training camp is that he looks like he is ready to play in the NHL. That’s good news. Dekanich played really well in Milwaukee last year. A real battler, reminds us of Chris Mason. He’s going to get a chance. Chet Pickard, big boy, ready to play, worked hard this summer. So we are going to give these young guys a chance. If it doesn’t work out and we don’t feel confident in for one of these guys in camp, we have a plan B to go in a different direction.
I don’t have a problem with this approach. Every player is a rookie at some point. They are going to give the guys a shot at camp; if they aren’t confident in their play they’ll sign someone else.

I don't disagree with this approach. Especially so because the Preds have to find the next goalie with Rinne being UFA in a couple of years and we all know what Poile's approach is for filling the netminder position. The Preds have numerical depth in goal, but the quality of that depth is unknown/unproven. Under this approach, everybody moves up a spot in the depth charts and the next #1A/#1B can be discovered that much quicker. Or alternatively, the lack of quality in the goalies depth will be discovered and the Preds can then address this position as necessary. I'm fairly sure that Rinne with continued good play will price himself out of Nashville with what would at that time be a larger dollar, longer term deal than what the Preds would want to pay. Like I said earlier this year, I think the desire to look from within for a backup has as much or more to do with the longer term future at the goaltender position than what would be the best move for the 2010-11 team's win/loss chances.
anybody else notice the last few days at practice that weber seems to have gained some speed? or maybe its just been too long since i have seen him? he looks quicker to me
if it's anything like last year, they'll later turn into highly-coveted FAs and sign elsewhere, as in when we had both Jake Muzzin and Casey Wellman in camp, and let both get away

I know...I've had the same thoughts...but, if they do...then it bodes well for continuing to get top talent to come to camp with the Preds...
Doonsbosch has very good stats, I'm expecting him to pull a Muzzin personally...
Does anyone know if there will be someplace to watch the Rookie games in Florida online?
I think as we get closer I'd watch for word on that from the Florida board. Wouldn't doubt though that the Preds will have a Twitter feed going with updates...
Unfortunately, not yet. If I hear anything I'll post it in this thread. Likely we will be relegated to Twitter updates as the games happen and hopefully can snag a few reports from various sources afterward.
Last season the Predators put together a short highlight reel of each game down in Atlanta that was posted up on NP.com.
