He turned the club around with smart marketting and good decisions. Before he arrived the club was missing the playoffs and losing money, younger people didn't really care for hockey. Now the Habs have a new, younger audience, have the longest sellout streak in the NHL, are competitive and are once again a Montréal landmark.
Also he is very much implicated in the community and in various charity works.

I guess that's why.
