There have been 42 seasons from 1967-1968 to present...

29x or 69.0% of the time the Art Ross winner has played Center
10x or 23.8% of the time the Art Ross winner has played Right Wing (Jagr, Lafleur, St. Louis)
2x or 4.8% of the time the Art Ross winner has played Defense (Orr)
1x or 2.4% of the time the Art Ross winner has played Left Wing (Ovechkin)


Goals and Assists
In 32 of 42 seasons or 76.2% of the time the Art Ross winner has scored AT LEAST half as many goals as assists (in other words...had a goals-to-assists ratio of 0.50 or higher)

The left wing thing not really , for like 20 years Gretzky , Lemieux & Jagr won every Art Rosses and before that Esposito and Lafleur took a lot of them so you don't have a lot of years left for a Left Wing to win it between these great players.
