Yeah, cause Quick didn't outplay Bernier when the two were together in Manchester, and Murray would obviously play Quick over Bernier even if Bernier is the better goalie this season.

am also looking into a possible deal involving the Sabres and Kings that could bring Jack Johnson and a pick to Buffalo for Stafford and "another strong forward with speed."

It's pretty funny actually. Stafford was a healthy scratch a couple of times in the playoffs and has never scored more than 45 points in a season and plays right wing. Why on Earth would the Kings want him? Maybe it's for the "strong winger with speed?" Who on the Sabres is strong? Gaustad? Hecht? That lineup is small all the way through. Oh, and the Kings are going to trade one of their defenseman that is absolutely key to their new offensive structure. Plus a pick.

I am not an official source and in fact am not anything at all (picture an amorphous gob) but all I have ever heard regarding JJ and his potential for being dealt was that he was considered to be extremely valuable and is well liked by several key people in the org. That if he were to be dealt that it would be for an "elite" talent. I had heard that there might have been an offer at one time from the pens where JJ had been considered but who knows?

Anything is possible but I cant see us dealing JJ for anything other than a seriuosly talented player.

Unless he prices himself off the team. That's the only way I see it happening.

Souray and Gerber are on waivers. So glad we got Mitchell right now.

JJ for Staal has probably been talked about to death, but given our amount of NHL centers (Kopitar, Stoll, Zues, Richardson) and young quality prospects (Loki and Schenn) I'd say dean has long since eliminated that as a viable option. JJ and Doughty are going to be a hell of pair of 1/2 guys in the future (and present) and I think Dean has locked both of them up in his head.

Having both JJ and Doughty is HUGE for us. They can play opposite pairs at even strength and can absolutely dominate on the PP.

Assuming we roll JJ/Doughty on the 1st PP unit all year, I would virtually guarantee a top-5 finish in PP efficiency.

This is why I've ALWAYS thought any trade (save a ridiculous overpayment) involving JJ was a bad idea.

If JJ is going to Buffalo, you better expect Myers coming back.

I just like how much people don't like JJ but make him the subject of a lot of trade rumors.

JJ is still a rough diamond

everyone knows he is talented offensively, he just needs to perfect his defensive game to make him a true top line Dman. Having Willie Mitchell or Suds as a partner for a year will do wonders for him in that department, he should learn so much from whoever he is partnered with.

By the end of the season, id imagine noone would want JJ out of here

Who are the people who would want JJ out of here? I have said it since we traded for him and I stick by it, he has future all star written all over him. In my opinion he is DDb and that is truly high praise. Next time you run into Luc (maybe this weekend) ask him what he really thinks of JJ and watch his eyes. He is one of several people in the org who think that JJ might just end up being a hall of fame talent.

If we were to deal him away it would be for a vast over payment or for an equally elite level talent. Can this thread be put to bed? The last real rumor happened a couple of weeks ago, didn't it?

JJ has been great ever since they started putting him on the PP consistently. IMO he just needed to expend that offensive energy so he could be more calm on the 5 on 5.

I hope so. I just drafted him in one of my fantasy leagues.

JJ is going to be a much better player under John Stevens. You could see him the last couple of games. He is getting more creative with the puck and hes out their merking people too.

Someone in the HF league took him really early in the draft last year. The I took Bogosian...then someone took Doughty (not all in the same round)

I've got Doughty, Johnson, Del Zotto, and Letang in one league, and Boyle, Markov, Yandle, and Rafalski in another.

The timing of which they get the deals done with Simmonds, Doughty, Johnson and Bernier will be key in what is done next off-season.

Doughty: $6.5M(I think that's a fair estimate)
Simmonds: $3M(They need to go into it say that they won't pay him much more than this, if some team offers him $4M+ next off-season, DL should gladly take the picks. Of course, that could change if scores 25-30 goals this season)
Bernier: $1.5M(Unless he plays a majority of the games, he has no leverage to get more than Quick)
Johnson: $4M(This a real wildcard. if he has a 50 point season a demands near Doughty money, this could be his farewell tour as a King)

if he gets 50pt you find the money to pay him.
