The American economy was sailing along 3 years ago then then a new president took over and the whole thing collapsed a couple months in.
Clearly that was the new presidents fault.
Curse that Obama, if only he was as competent as his predecessors
While I dont agree with every move Murray has made, he's a good GM and the fact that Ottawa is no longer elite is not his fault at all. The decline of Ottawa started with letting Havlat and Chara go; elite talent leaving and nothing to show for it. Both are Muckler's moves.
printing billions of dollars for a bailout and health care could not have helped...
As far as I know there wasn't billions of dollars printed for a bailout. That would be likely be viewed as quantitative easing and would be only serve to aggravate the problems the USD currently faces and lower it's value.
Yeah its even better when you are talking United States politics with Canadians! Or worse yet, people who know nothing about politics, economics, foreign policy, or history, and only know to repeat what they hear on SNL, The Daily Show, and big media talking point sound bites.
I bet a lot of Canadians know more about US politics than most Americans.
Politics, religion, money, youre supposed to keep that stuff to yourself ya know, Im assuming most people here don't want to hear about others political thoughts so I propose Lee+Ryder+2nd for Brad Richards.
Well, lets get this back on topic:
Say the KHL and NHL had a transfer agreement where the parent club got paid. Now say, the KHL demanded that each team carried 5 goalies on their rosters - every KHL goalie's value would thus be artificially lowered. Well, KHL starting goalies would be in demand and available at a lower price, wouldn't they? Queue the lineup of teams taking KHL goalies at a lower price and happily paying the rental price.
Until we add a third 55-65 point winger (Kovalev, Michalek) and can't find a way to get him going offensively... wait a year or two and them trade him away at a low point with a top prospect and a pick for a guy who had a recent hot streak.
Next year I propose:
Wolski, Rundblad and our 2012 1st rounder
Runblad won't be involved in any trades whatsoever.. Management is ultra high on him.. He is developing way way past any of his previous expectations and is looking like an absolute steal..
