Ever heard of a home team discount?

Also, we don't have $7.5 million to spend. A) Were a cap floor team (or at least close to it) and B) What happens when our young players and prospects need raises?

Where did he sign? Oh, Tampa. So, he went with the team that drafted him, and none of the other 29 teams. Guess none of em could have afforded him.

Woo.

I laughed when I saw saw this. Another checking line Panther ends up with the Canucks. Oreskovich, Glass, Duco and now Bitz, who will it be next year?
I wish the guy the best of luck though!

Woo.
Some people think NHL is a fantasy hockey league. That realisticly we had a chance of signing Stamkos or anyone else.

Yep... Pretty funny... Vancouver won't ever win with the Sisters, Roberta and all our garbage !

Everybody is praising Mike Gillis when I don't see all the buzz about him.

We'll see in the future, but I'm really not impress with this guy's work !

Are any of you guys following what's happening in Nassau regarding the new Islanders arena?

http://blogs.forbes.com/tomvanriper/...-really-leave/

I really don't want to see another team moved. No fan deserves to go through that.

I'll always have a soft spot for the Islanders unless they one day become huge rivals of ours. I was born on Long Island and still have most of my family living up there. I'd really hate to see them move and I've heard that even most Rangers fans wouldn't want to see it due to the historic rivalry. We'll see what happens in the coming days with the votes.

Well at least the residents of Nassau County have the chance to vote to keep their team there. It's in their hands.

BTW, did Broward had a vote for arena? Miami-Dade had a vote for Heat arena but not for Marlins stadium (unfortunately).

And residents said no, at least for publicly funded arena. Islanders will be staying in Nassau till the end 2014-15 season (at least), but what would happen after that, to Brooklyn (or where new Nets' arena will be)?

There seems to be conflicting reports about whether the Barclays arena could accommodate an NHL size rink or not. I think it is being built for basketball only. Also there is the financial side to it as far as Wang having to lease it and not getting profits from concessions, NBA sponsors, etc since it's owned by that Russian dude. (forgot his name sorry)

Shea Weber joins Brian Campbell in the 7+ mill defenseman club. He is still an RFA after this year.

Weber was awarded a one-year contract worth $7.5 million by the independent arbiter who presided over his hearing with the Predators on Tuesday in Toronto.

I read somewhere that the max capacity would be something around 14 thousand to fit a rink in there. I don't think the NHL would allow a team to move there if that were true.

If it's like the Kansas City arena it will only hold less than 14,000 with an ice rink in it. Not really ideal.

From what I've read, Queens is the most likely destination for the Isles.

Sean Avery apparently couldn't keep his mouth shut and his hands to himself ... Big shock!

http://aol.sportingnews.com/nhl/stor...police-officer

Quote:
Rangers left winger Sean Avery was arrested early Friday and charged with battery on a police officer, according to multiple reports -- and he got some name-calling in, as well.

According to NBCNewYork.com, police came to Avery's home in Hollywood around 1 a.m., responding to a noise complaint. The battery charge is a misdemeanor, and it's unclear what provoked the alleged confrontation. Bail was set at $20,000, and he has since been released.

During the scuffle, according to TMZ.com, Avery called the police "fat little pigs" and telling them to "come back without your badges."

Police confirm former Vancouver Canucks tough guy Rick Rypien has been found dead in his Alberta home. More to come.

RIP.
