Christ!! Top two lines for the forseeable future (OK, if they can stay healthy):

Eberle-RNH-Yakupov
Hall-Gagner-Hemsky

^^^ And they still won't have any defense or goaltending.

Klefbom is gonna be a good d-man though, just probably not a #1 guy (should be a #2 IMO). And I have a gut feeling that they could trade the pick instead and still get Murray to be their #1 d-man that they need. Then they have a defense and their goaltending isnt that bad if Dubnyk plays the way he did against us.

Rick Dudley to join the Habs

Might have to wait until after the Draft though (pretty poor timing on this).

Phoenix has a new owner?

Looks like Bettman is ready to announce that a tentative deal has been struck. Hopefully this keeps the Coyotes in PHX.

Dale Hunter has stepped down from the Caps. Queue me saying they need trade OV, lol. (yes, I think he's OVerrated!)

I think this move sounds like the complete opposite. Hunter gave OV less ice time than other coaches have and managed to win games whilst doing that. If they had kept Hunter on it would have shown they could be willing to move OV but instead they are committing to OV and going to find someone who will create a system around the man they have another $88m to pay.

Seems Hunter not returning has to do with him not wanting to coach in the NHL than issues with #8.

Reading up on it, seems Hunter was only committed to this year only for coaching the Caps from the start.

I agree Hunter is leaving of his own free will, just don't think much of Ov.

I'm reading that his rights were traded to the Pens, but that he's still impending UFA. Updated link?

So Vokoun will ride the backup job behind Fleury. As bad as Fleury has been but Vokouns career will likely find a quick end soon...No way he will get the starting job!

And I should have put $2 mil per year, not $2 mil total.

I'm a bit surprised that Vokoun accepted the backup role. Some are saying he signed because it's a 2-year deal which he may not have gotten anywhere else. If Fleury struggles, Vokoun 'may' rival him for the starting job at some point in time. I just wonder if the Pens did this to make another trade to a team that desperately needs a proven starter.

once bitten, twice shy. he talked about how surprised he was at the lack of interest last year. he wanted to stay in the NHL and he probably sees this as a chance to get back to the postseason and, potentially, unseat MAF (considering how much trouble he's had recently). he's confident in his own abilities and knows that getting onto a contending roster in any role might afford him the opportunity he wants.

i'm speculating here but that would make sense from his perspective. 2 more years with a contending franchise is a good deal. i think he was smart to go this route.

Yep agree. Surprised by this, but smart move by him and the Pens. They'll be a tough(er) team.

I'm not so sure Vokoun will be the backup. Good move by the Pens, he'll push Fleury, who was horrible in the playoffs.

Bahahaha, dumb phone. Must've highlighted Salak when I made a correction and I didn't notice.

They waived Salak...

Salak is going back to Europe it appears

Hawks signed G Kent Simpson (2010 2nd round pick) and G Mac Carruth (2010 7th round pick)

They will battle for spot in AHL with likely career minor leaguer Carter Hutton the starter for next year with Hogs

Loser of Simpson/Carruth battle ends up in ECHL

Sucks because Salak came over and won #2 job and got screwed over then got injured

Gave up #1 job in SEL to come over ,, Guy had every right to be pissed about how he was treated

Good news everyone. Yzerman and tampa are depending on anders linback to backstop their horrific defense and give them several stanley cups. Another 6 games im looking forward to next year. This a boom or bust for tampa.

I'm actually kind of worried about it. Mitch Korn has done some amazing things over the years with NSH goaltenders. Lindback has the tools to be a very good goalie.
