Yeah, this one looks like it may be a good pickup. They sure did give up quite a bit for him though.

They said the same thing about Dan Ellis. I'll see it to believe it. Tampa's defense is a major concern.

Yeah, I don't think Lindback is far behind Markstrom in terms of upside. At the least it will be interesting to watch the two former Brynas teammates battle against eachother in Florida for the next few years.

Adam Oates new head coach in Washington. I kind of like the circus of coaches in washington i think it throws the players off and makes them inconsistent as a team. Like Adam Oates a lot and wish him nothing but failure as coach of the Caps.

For some reason, reading this made me burst out laughing.

Randy Sportak ‏@SUNRandySportak

#Flames have signed Dennis Wideman to a 5-year deal with a $5.25M cap hit

Dumb & Dumber

Calgary just acquired Wideman from Washington... then gave him a 5 year extension @ $5.25 M per year.

http://flames.nhl.com/club/news.htm?id=636252

Tying up $12M a year on Wideman & Bouw seems like a very prudent strategy

On a related note, I think this has to make Garrison's agent rather happy.

Incredibly stupid, banking everything on those two, IMO.

I bet that contract has a full NMC/NTC too. Calgary loves dem' NTC/NMC's.

After their bizarre 1st round pick & this imprudent contract, I have to wonder what kind of illicit pharmaceuticals are circulating in Calgary's hockey operations.

Feaster seems always so happy. He's probably on angel dust 24/7.

this is why i dumped the flames fan from my username. Every decision that organization has made since 2004 has been the wrong one. Its like watching something slowly and painfully die.

I couldn't believe what I was reading when I saw the news of the signing earlier today. Feaster is a complete moron from his trade in the draft to this. I feel bad for Flames fans. They still have J-Blow too because who the hell is going to take contract away from them?

I can't even believe that Feaster is this bad.

If Widelon get 5.25 then Garrison is definitely getting at least 5.5

Then again, you could argue that Wideman is much better than Garrison, or at least way more proven. He has two 13 goal seasons, one of which was a 50 pt season, and scored 11 goals/46 pts last year. I could see Garrison still getting less money. (maybe not much though)

This isn't a knock on Garrison btw, I just think some of us may be underrating Wideman here (not that I think he's anywhere near worth what Calgary paid him)

I gotta disagree. Widelon is better than Garrison offensively, but he's a total pylon. We know it, Caps fans know it. He should get around 4M, 4.5 tops, and that's only because of the ridiculous prices in free agency. Garrison is a much better all-around d-man. Wideman is the luckiest man alive. He's gifted offensively so he makes so much money but he is laughably bad defensively.

He and Kaleta on the same team? Buffalo's trying to annoy everyone to a win.

Olli Jokinen to Winnipeg, article says that it's two year deal worth of $9 million, but i thought that it would be 2 years/$5 million
