Played winger for Djurgården, had a good season and ended up 6th in scoring in SEL with 51 (24+27) points. Was pretty invisble in WC though.

...and it's Nilson, one s only. Yeah, unusual for Swedes, but that's the way it's spelled. Josefson with only one s is pretty rare too... . What can I say, Swedish Devils are a special breed.

I approve of this. Tryouts are good. hopefully, he impresses, sticks, and tears it up

That's the only thing that concerns me. But I'm sure the staff will figure it out quickly if he's going to fit or ruffle feathers from the start. At least he's younger than Dean and Rob Nieds.

If he catches on I guess my dream of a Pelley-Sestito-Zharkov/Leblond 4th line is gone. I'm assuming he's another Pikka though.

I remember another great veteran tryout we once had that shocked me especially when his name was announced, his name...rob carpenter (bobby carpenter) . I do not give any doubt to these especially after hearing that one; especially after what was seen as career ending injury.

Is September 8th the new April 1st?

It does make SOME sense I suppose. Nobody really knows if Josefson is NHL ready, and if not, the team is going to need someone who can play center, and cheaply. Emphasis on "cheaply".

ugh, Carp. Carp just cut 15 minutes off every game he played. not the greatest example.

He isn't another Pikkarainen. Nilson has over 500 games of NHL experience. I always like him in Calgary, he was real good for them in 2004.

Nilson is built from the right stuff and I was a bit surprised he wasn't used properly last time he was in the NHL. He does have enough of a scoring touch to easily fit on a third line.

Bobby Carpenter scored 53 goals in one season...Nilson's career totals in 500+ games is 60 something goals. There is a huge difference. Not to pounce on you. I have little faith in this. There is no way he cracks the top 6.

Its possible he gets shifted among the bottom 2 lines. If that is ok for him, than fine. Lets see what you got. Heck, if we do have to trade Zubrus than this could be a good wing for Josefson / somewhat of a replacement for Zubrus. But he's not going to make our team better... at best he's a plug for Zubrus if he gets traded.

Is that the same Nilsson who played for Calgary during their cup run?

But that translates to somewhere between, "Meh" and "Zzzz" at the NHL level. I dont think he'd score more than 12 goals in the NHL given his past numbers. Unless something really changed in his game during the last few years in Sweden, and I cant imagine how or why that would be the case.
