I really liked what I saw from Pirri and Leddy last night.
Pirri seems to have a real head for the game, always aware as the play develops and has good vision. Looking for the open man, he kind of reminded me of Kane last night. Obviously not as good, but style-wise there were tiny similarities. He has average to slightly above average speed. An extra jump in his step wouldn't hurt.
Leddy impressed me by being pretty strong on the puck. Whether he was battling a forecheck or taking the puck into the offensive zone a la Campbell, he angled his body between the puck and opposing player(s) very well. Not sure how he'll fare against bigger men in the AHL, but I was pleasantly surprised last night.
I also have to say I liked Makarov and Gilbert as well. Makarov looks more like a playmaker than a goal scorer to me. Nothing wrong with that, but he was able to create space for himself and had opportunities to shoot but passed it off instead. If he stays the whole year in North America, he'll be with the Hawks at some point.
Morin was OK, Dido did pretty well, and Beach didn't impress me too much. I don't expect the world from him, but when I see him play, he never seems to be busting his ass. I hope Bill Peters can get his ass in gear.
