I'm imagining a naive prospect goalie on another team looking across the ice during warm-ups and ******** his pants seeing "NEAL" and "BENN" skating around.

Normally it's not broadcasted down here. Maybe on NHL Network.

Is this nascar? Nice jersey numbers.

I now appreciate Colton Sceviour more than I ever have before.

I have to say, I was a tiny bit surprised that Glennie didn't get his customary #15 and is still stuck down there making left turns at 46 despite signing the ELC. With Lindgren gone back to Finland it's wide open.

Also interesting is Campbell pushing Besko aside for Numero Uno. But 34 is what Besko wore in juniors anyway so I'm not sure why he had 1 in the first place.

Here's a look at today's opponent's (Detroit) roster using the same classifying scheme as the first post. Hopefully it'll give a bit of an idea of the strength of competition.

#21 Tomas Tatar (3)
#57 Landon Ferraro (10)
#49 Andrej Nestrasil (13)
#70 Willie Coetzee (18)
#62 Joakim Andersson (20)
#47 Brent Raedeke
#65 Mitchell Callahan
#53 Marc-Louis Aubry
#50 Brooks Macek
#58 Darren Archibald
#60 Trevor Parkes
#63 Antonin Honejsek
#64 Stephen Johnston

#02 Brendan Smith (2)
#67 Gleason Fournier (19)
#25 Brian Lashoff
#27 Travis Ehrhardt
#54 Sebastien Piche
#56 Alex Cord
#61 Marc-Anthony Zanetti
#71 Brandon Kichton

#38 Thomas McCollum (8)
#36 Jordan Pearce
#34 Petr Mrazek

red = signed to a contract by Detroit
bold = in HF's top 20
plain = unsigned draft pick outside of the top 20 (Dallas doesn't have any of these competing)
italic = invites

looks like a weaker Detroit roster. Most of their top prospects are absent from the roster with the noticable exceptions of Tartar and Smith.

seems like a game the Dallas prospect squad should be able to win. Except in these things, having a bunch of overage non prospects on your roster can be an advantage. Just because most of the guys on the Detroit roster aren't recognizeable doesn't mean they won't be solid...

GO STARS! the last decent thing that happened to the Stars on the ice was winning this tournament in 2008. Time to reverse the momentum with another win

Jack Campbell mentioned on NHL.com that the coaches got everyone jacked up with an inspirational speech last night. Mentioned that every year Dallas has been playing in the tournament, one of the participants made the Dallas Stars out of camp.

So ...... Larsen going to continue that trend? While I doubt he's here for the year, can Glennie get a 9 game or fewer tryout in the NHL? Brunnstrom and Cheechoo could always prove they are what they are, and Sceviour, Vincour, or some other surprise could jump up to Ribs line to start the year.

I thought last year it would be tough for a rookie to crack the lineup, but this year seems even tougher.

Here's a link to Campbell's blog btw for the Traverse tournament: http://www.nhl.com/ice/news.htm?id=536940

Latest post talks about his pre-game ritual, but I really liked his first post.

Campbell's getting the start.

Frazee, Hazen, Grbavac, Neal, and Benn appear to be the scratches.

3 goals were in 1 minute.

5:07, 5:40, and 6:07

If I'm reading the boxscore right, the first was a 5 on 3 PP, 2nd a 5 on 4 PP, and the 3rd should have been at ES.
