The fondness for maple syrup, fries with cheese curds and gravy, and Cheezies didn't tip you off?

Actually, that's pretty cool. Now to figure out why they left!

So sorry to hear about your loss. Mine died 5 years ago, and I still miss her everyday. Truly is a tough thing to go through.

I worked 3 jobs in college. There were times I'd go a good 15 days without a break. Trust me though, as much as it may suck right now, don't rush getting a full-time job. I thought working Monday-Friday 8-4:30 was gonna be awesomesauce, and i'll tell you what. Not so much.

Damn that's rough.

I don't hate my job per say I just can't stand the customers I deal with. And, it's only going to get worse with going into the Holidays...sigh. I know you got me beat with your Cherry Hill Mall stories however.

Kambo, do you ever pass a can of soup and die a little bit on the inside?

Heh, people are going to hate you for no reason for your entire professional life, so there's also that.

Cause I have off weekends(kinda) summers, and holidays?

No, I don't have any idea on what age group to do. I was thinking middle school or early high school...I know, I know. But, I'm not sure about younger than that. Not sure I could handle little ones.

I gotta get out of NJ however. It sucks.

Well...if you're going to RU you're going to come out NJ certified. If you move, you're gonna have to get certified for that state. Just an FYI.

I teach middle school. I love the schedule, but I am probably going to have to get a second job if I want to buy a house before the new year. I could do it now, but the money would be tight.

Also, depending on your attitude the kids will either love or hate you. One teacher on my team pretty much lets the kids know how much she hates them, and that hate them back. I am sarcastic all the time and make jokes during class and they love me.

"You totally hate me."
"Nope, I hate you all equally."

"Why does North America look skinny in that picture?"
"Because it went on a diet and dropped a few lbs."

See the jokes don't even have to be good, they like the terrible ones the best!

The only time they really hate you is when you give them their grade after they have not done anything in class or for homework. Calling them out on being lazy and being a terrible student gets them all pissed for some reason.

Nah, I'm just talking about people in general.

Everybody hates teachers now because no one wants to admit that most 21st century American kids are lazy *******s who have had everything spoonfed to them. They don't work in school and so their scores suck, nothing a teacher can do about that.

I'm not a fan of the whole "it's not my kid's fault, he had a ****** teacher" argument, if your kid works hard, he'll do well, if he doesn't, he won't.

But the new cult in America is the Cult of Avoiding Personal Responsibility.

Yeah, I know. My sister came out of RU for teaching. I'll figure it all out when the time comes.

Oh no, I agree. I mean there is teachers out there who hate kids but that's another can of soup. Not to mention some teachers are very old school for today's kids. It just doesn't seem to click like it used to. I'd find teaching with technology may help. Then again I know very little compared to teachers in the field.

Parents today...Lets just say, my parents were totally different than the ones I see and hear about. Again, another topic. But I do not agree with these younger parents of today at all.

edit: on the teaching thing...i have only ever had bad math teachers, 2 to be precise. the horrendous teacher in 6th grade essentially ****ed over anybody who wasn't naturally adept at math until about 9th grade. the woman who taught 7th and 8th grade had little chance of reversing the damage done by that witch (who once confessed that she enjoyed making kids cry in class...which often happened since nobody ever understood ANYTHING). but she was fine compared to the miserable abortion of a teacher i had in 11th grade, for calc. by december, i was so thoroughly lost, that i told my parents there wasn't any possibility of me passing the class. they got me a competent tutor. in 3 one hour sessions, he successfully taught, and made me truly understand, everything this ***** had failed to communicate for 4 months. then he stopped tutoring, and it was up to me to try and teach myself the rest of the class based off the foundation he'd given me. not only did i fail to learn a lot of important ****, the experience made me despise math. freshman year at VT only made that hatred worse...there's a thing called the Math Emporium here, where you teach yourself math. there are no teachers. the people there to help don't speak english. it's all just terrible. i hate all things math to this day, because im tired of having to work my ass off to learn anything, from people who dont know what theyre talking about, and then get blamed because i couldnt get it right.

/incoherent rant
