So, I finally took Dana to her first game. I'm really blessed. She didn't fuss or cry or anything. She even started clapping along with the chants (sorta)..LOL

Pie Asham...that's Arron Asham's new nickname given to him by Stieggy. Pie...Asham. He also looks ridiculous in a Pens uniform.

So is 'lulz' just kinda an hf thing or something? I use it all the time, and people for the most part seem to understand, unless they just don't say anything. I just ask cause I was IM'ing a coworker of mine this morning and I did the "Do it for the lulz" line, and he had no idea what I was talking about.

I use lulz outside of HF and my friends understand it.

There was a thread on this a while ago (for the life of me I can't find it), but Simon Gagne spoke with some Tampa Bay media when he arrrived in Florida for camp. Everyone made a big deal about his repetitive use of the phrase "one year."

Well, it's confirmed. He doesn't see his future here.

http://blogs.creativeloafing.com/dai...ith-lightning/

Quote:
Simon Gagne is hoping his time with the Tampa Bay Lightning will last longer than one year. One of the newest members of the team, acquired in a trade with the Philadelphia Flyers last summer, Gagne spoke after practice on Friday about how he hopes his time with Tampa Bay will play out. Much was made over some comments made before the start of training camp, when the term “one year” was heard, but there is no doubt what Gagne is hoping for in the long term.

“I didn’t come here to be here one year and move somewhere else after [this year],” Gagne said. “I would love to make things work here with Vinny, and the boys here, the coaching staff, Mr. Yzerman, having a good start, and hopefully finding a way to get an extension. That’s my goal and hopefully that is going to work.”
Can't say I blame him.

I dunno how long the information has been out yet, but McFarlane's got a new group of hockey figurines coming. They include the following:

* SIDNEY CROSBY 4

I guess they weren't content with having only made 3 figurines of Golden Boy so far.

* PHIL KESSEL

Token player from canadian team #1.

* HENRIK SEDIN 2

Decent enough, though I didn't have him with a figurine before in my book. Maybe they're counting those of his twin brother

* PATRICK KANE

Actually OK, since it's his first, but the guy is definitely getting a bit too much media exposure right now.

* DUSTIN PENNER

Why? Oh, right. Token player from canadian team #2.

* SCOTT GOMEZ

Why? Oh, right. Token player from canadian team #3.

* MARIAN GABORIK

Actually his second figurine, which pushes the number of repeats to 3 out of 8.

* NICKLAS BACKSTROM

Decent enough.

Players not yet molded in plastic: Ryan Getzlaf, Zach Parise, Mike Richards, Jeff Carter, Ilya Bryzgalov, Thomas Vokoun, Thomas Vanek, Drew Doughty, Duncan Keith and Steven Stamkos, just to name a few. They probably all should be ahead of people like Kessel, Penner, Gomez, Regehr, Schenn and Gustavsson who all got figures this year, but unfortunately they don't play for a team in Canada. They probably should also have priority over a 4th figurine for one specific player.

I think Barry Bonds does not get enough crap for his sullying the greatest record in sports. I was just reading this article and it reminded me how much he sucked. Also how awesome this article was (it's a few years old).

I don't care that they were using steroids because they all did but when they continue to lie and make up excuses that's what pisses me off.

It's cheating. You'd be pissed in hockey if a team got to play with six skaters to your five, wouldn't you? It's really more about the hubris of Barry Bonds than anything else. I don't know exactly when he started using, but judging just be the way he looked, he didn't always use them. Before he started mashing 10000 homers a year, he was already on his way to being a Hall of Famer. But he had to have more and then clearly, obviously, lie about it. Now the record will always be known as having that asterisk on it because he used the steroids. Aaron's record was pretty much the most vaunted record in sports, and now it is a joke.

The problem is that not everyone was doing it. A lot of people were and maybe even a majority were. But not everyone was so the people who were had the advantage. Moreover, it is illegal and detrimental to your body. By allowing it to continue (which they are doing by not really disciplining anyone for using) it is sending the message to fans, kids, etc that it is ok not only to cheat, but to use illegal drugs that are (or can be) very dangerous. This isn't something like pot or alcohol which athletes use and so does a large portion of the country, this is something that biological changes your body and is a very dangerous thing and is patently against the rules. If they changed the rules to allow steroids, then ok that's fine (though I still wouldn't be ok with it because of the harmful side effects). But it is against the rules, and a 50 game suspension isn't scaring anyone away from doing this.
