Oilers - Bruins

To
-Andrew Cogliano
-Sheldon Souray

To
-Matt Hunwick
-Michael Ryder

Bruins get an energy 3rd liner with tons of speed and still has potential to become a top 6 forward and a decent PPQB to play on the 2nd unit and giving some resting time for Chara.

Oilers get a good #4 D-man in Matt Hunwick, who will play alongside Smid and Michael Ryder who could have a good season and garnish some interest from teams during trade deadline day.

Sturm-Krejci-Horton
Wheeler-Bergeron-Cogliano
Lucic-Seguin-Recchi
Paille-Campbell-Thornton

Chara-Seidenberg
Souray-Staurt
Boychuk-Ference

Rask
Thomas

Penner-Gagner-Ryder
Hall-Horcoff-Hemsky
MPS-Brule-Eberle
Mac-Fraser-JFJ/Storts

Whitney-Gilbert
Smid-Hunwick
Foster-Vandemeer

Dubnyk
Gerber
JDD

I'm assuming Ryder also has negative value, Souray fills a team need as their 2nd unit puck mover. Just 2 years ago he was one of the league's premier PPQB's.

He doesn`t have negative value - he`s just not worth hsi $5.4M price tag.

Teams don't take 5.4M without dumping something

Hunwick is the exact opposite type of Dman we need.

Ryder does nothing but clog up our wings more.

Just plain bad.

Actually, Cogs sucks as a winger. He always plays out of position when playing on the wing. He constantly wanders to center.

He also kinda sucks as a center because he doesn't win face-offs. When he's winning face-offs he's a good energy line center. When he isn't winning face-offs he sucks in general.

Boston does not do it

Souray 2 years left at 5.4

bb are 2.5 over the cap according to cap geek.com

so It think it would need to be Ryder and Sturm for Cogs and Souray

If Edmonton made such a deal they'd be loaded up on the wings, and it would likely push MPS and maybe even Eberle down to the AHL for a year... interesting idea to say the least. We'd blow chunks through the year and then trade Ryder and Sturm away before the deadline for whatever we could get and then bring the kids up to play.

Don't know what to think of that... doesn't do a lot for me... but heck... get's 100% of Souray's 5.4 million off the books. Can't complain.

I'd love this deal. I'd also take the OP's offer. Solves Boston's problem of missing a PMD and adds some much needed speed to the offense.

I don't think this works for Boston because they need to move some salary, this doesn't do that.

You're missing the point though. He has no value because of his contract, age, and injury history...not because he can't play.

There are tons of guys that I'd love to see on the bruins that also have no value because of mitigating factors...souray is one of them. But when a guy clears waivers untouched, then it's safe to say they don't have trade value. Doesn't mean he can't play, it just means he has no trade value. Big difference there.
