Indie isn't technically a genre. I hate to be that guy, but it's true. Do you mean the kind of folk music that's generally called "indie"? If so, I have a few for you:

The Decemberists
Electric President
Fleet Foxes
Freelance Whales (one of my favorites)
John Nolan (backup vocalist for Taking Back Sunday, doesn't sound like them at all if they're not your thing)
Jose Gonzalez
Manchester Orchestra
Minus the Bear
Noah And The Whale
Portugal. The Man
Right Away, Great Captain! (Similar to Mumford and Sons)
Tunng (Great dark, British folk band)

Here's some examples of my favorites:

This kind of stuff is my **** lol. Listen to these ones and let me know if you like any of them and I have tons more that are similar.

After all this folk talk, this is what I'm listening to

John Nolan - Til It's Done To Death

Just for comparison if anyone's interested.

The guy with the short black hair in this video is the same guy. His first line is "Well which would you prefer?" I think it shows a pretty solid vocal range that he can do both his folk stuff and the "emo" backup vocals.

Well, this being a hockey forum and all, this seems fitting. Recorded in Philly too.

Yea it was their best show I have been to and I see them everytime they are in Philly. Great set list was nice to see them play some old songs they don't play anymore like when keeping it real goes wrong. Get Stoked on It is a good album IMO but they don't play it anymore because they say it is an embarrassment to them as a band.

Yeah I can see that, I mean with how emotionally driven The Upsides and Suburbia are, I can understand that they wouldn't be too proud of Get Stoked On It! A lot of those songs are just a lot of fun to listen to, though. I love having all 3 of their albums on my iPod, it's a nice mix of powerful songs and funny/upbeat songs.

Yeah I have them, I just meant full length lol. Won't Be Pathetic Forever is probably my favorite song of their old stuff, probably because it's the first song of theirs I heard
