Your favorite Russian Hawk

Russians have really never worked out well for Hawks in most cases but a few did play well for the franchise (Although they still get slammed by idiot fans)

Who was your favorite Russian player to play of Hawks?

I was a big Zhamnov fan and felt he never got a fair chance from this fanbase. He got put in a no win situation being the guy who Roenick was traded for

Johnny Gottselig - and he won a cup with the Blackhawks - officially from the Ukraine but it was Russia at the time

EDIT: Apologies we won two cups with the Hawks and was on the staff for the third

Well call me an idiot then....Zhamnov for Roenick..brutal trade. It was'nt Zhamnov's fault I know, but I never really liked him at any point in his career. Hawks were terrible at bringing along Russians anyways...I would vote Igor Kravchuk though.

I usually post on the Fantasy Talk section of the site, but felt I would give my two cents on the matter, as I agree with Al Secord Forever.

I'd have to go with my great great uncle Johnnie Gottselig as the favourite Russian Hawk. He was part of the first three Stanley Cups (34, 38 as captain, and 61 as the public relations director). In the time of the early NHL, he didn't have a lot of points, but he was an extremely effective defensive type forward who was a great stick-handler.

That's just my own biased opinion.

I can't believe anyone likes Zhamnov. That trade was poison. We traded a star for a lazy slacker. He would be at the bottom of my list.

I'll go with Igor Kravchuk. His stay was short with the Hawks, but I liked his play and I can't think of any other Russian Hawk off the top of my head that I cared for.

Zhamnov cant be blamed for being the guy who we traded Roenick for

And I wouldn't call Zhamnov lazy ,,,, Bobo and Karp were lazy POS ,,,, Zhamnov was a talented 2 way C that was probably more of a #2 C forced to play #1 role

Isn't this thread a lot like "What's your favorite STD?"? I think it says a lot that that I can't remember one Russian player who didn't dissapoint for one reason or another during my lifetime.

I've got a 3 way tie for dead last - Sergei Berezin, Boris Mironov & Alexander Karpotsev

Keep in mind the original poster has shown an obsession with Russian NHLers ever since he registered here.

For his first year or two I thought he WAS Mike Smith.
