FGOTG Comments/Suggestions for '10-'11

Did a thread like this last year, so wanted to put one up again. Any comments/suggestions for changes are welcome. These are the current rules as of last season. Obviously Fro is gone, so we can either leave it at 4, or bump someone up to the list to make 5.

Here are the rules:

Each person gets to make two picks per game. One of your picks can be anyone on the team, and your other pick is your 'Dark Horse'. In other words, your Dark Horse is a player who is less likely to score the first goal..or any goal for that matter. The list of ineligible Dark Horses for this season are:

*Dustin Brown
*Anze Kopitar
*Alexander Frolov
*Ryan Smyth
*Justin Williams

Points are awarded as follows:

*Eight points awarded if you pick a player as a Dark Horse
*Four points awarded if you pick a player as your normal pick
*Two points awarded if you pick a shutout (Kings get shutout that is)
*Two extra points are awarded if you pick the correct situation in which the goal is scored (i.e. EV, PP, SH, PS)

-If you pick the same player as your normal pick and your Dark Horse, your normal pick gets priority.
-You can only pick Kings players to score the first goal of the game..opposing teams do not count.

An example of how your pick should look is:

Brown (PP)
Dark Horse: Johnson (EV)

Once the game has started, no more picks are allowed. Please make sure to get your picks in ahead of time to be fair to everyone.

first off, I take issue with you making Alexander Frolov ineligible for darkhorse consideration ~

I still think that if one of your selections scores the goal and your other gets an assist that there should be a bonus.

Maybe add Doughty to replace Frolov?

Well definitely add Koval, oh wait...

People seem to think Poni is good for 20 goals, he can be added to the list.

Cut these points in half until the playoffs. I think that is the way it was last year.

Just throwing this out not really attached to it. Maybe a point for fight/no fight (5 minute) and second point for player in the first fight.

I was reading over the thread I made last year at this time, and it seemed like the majority of people wanted to keep things simple and keep them the way they were. Unless the majority of people want it changed (like the assist thing for example), we'll probably just keep it the same as we won't be able to find something that makes everyone happy.
I do think we need to add 1 player to the ineligible list to get it back to 5. Whether its Poni or Doughty or someone else, doesn't really matter to me. Just whatever the majority wants.

Just look at each player and whoever scored the most goals last year becomes ineligible.

I think Doughty should be added to the ineligible Dark Horse category.

The next highest scorer was Zues..so it should probably be him or Doughty.

It's great the way it is, simple and easy, don't change anything.

(except for Frolov obviously)

I would like to say this is one of my favourite things on this site. I would like to suggest a frist goal for the other team point and if we call the shutout 2 points. This would make a fan look at the other team and make you get lucky picking there as well. I think this would be more challenging. If help is needed i would give my time to this.

Since the Kings PP should be a beast next season, I think Doughty should be ineligible for the dark horse selection. He could score 25+ goals this year.

Is it the first goal of the game or the first goal the Kings score? If the other team scores the first goal of the game does anybody get points?

It's the first goal scored by a Kings player. Doesn't matter if it is the first goal of the game or the seventh.

I like the current format. Adding a whole bunch of stuff only makes it harder for br3dsox. Best to just keep it sijmple.
